Cannot wait to see this one, Utah isnt exactly SC (but soon may be now there in the same Conference) but this is a game that could really help our chances in the polls, close win in an epic shootout

I'm a Notre Dame fan from Salt Lake City, Utah. I know a lot of students and alumni will be traveling out for the game. I'd love to come out as well and cheer on ND as they beat the Utes.

Where are good places to look for tickets?

I'll also be checking out that first time on ND Campus page as well. I've seen ND play out here on the west coast but never at home so this will be a special trip for me.

I was eery when buying tickets for this game since it's not a big rivalry game, but I got tickets and now can't wait because of the predictions it will be a close game.

If i am BK in this game i say this at the end of the pre-game talk, "score early, and we can bury em" If ND can put up big numbers early while holding their own on D, the Irish could turn this ugly, however i dont expect the Utes to go down without a fight.

Pittsburgh and USC will be our most difficult games IMO. Pittsburgh is going to win the Big East and USC is always good. I think Utah is the third most difficult game on the schedule. I think our biggest advantage in this game (besides home field) is that it's not played until mid November. That gives this team almost a whole season to get a rhythm within this offense and enough time for the defense to build up some confidence. I think ND wins a game thats close at halftime, but ultimately decided by the end of third quarter.

Utah's D looks pretty tough. Could be Pitt's QB blows. Bostick will be starting by the time they play ND. Utes line is getting a lot of pressure up front and closing off those running lanes. Despite a TD, Dion Lewis has been a non-factor so far.

Scary game, hopefully we're clicking on all cylinders by then.

yeah Utah definitely looks better prepared as of right now. Deion Lewis from what i have seen has only had an 18yd run to start the game off, and since he's done nothing. PITTs TD was just because of a Utah mistake

I've said all along that Pitt is completely overrated. Dion Lewis is not that good, their QB is new and their OL/DL are both far worse this year than people realize. I'm putting this Utah performance in that context... they're better than I thought they would be on defense and just about as good as I thought they would be on offense. Should be a very fun game.

Dion Lewis is not that good? Is that a joke? Im hoping that is an attempt at sarcasm because if not I think your gonna stand alone on that one. 1,799 yards and 17 touchdowns as a FRESHMAN. He is being brought into pre-season Heisman discussion by every analyst alive. Calling a team overrated based on the first game of the season is jumping the gun a little bit. They're playing in a stadium where Utah has won 17 straight. They're not losing to App State at home.

Lewis is the real deal.

If he gets hit in the backfield, he bounces off and gains 2 yards. If he's hit 5 yards down field, he turns it into 7 or 8.

He's got a rare combination of toughness and shiftiness mixed with his small size. Watch every carry...always getting more than he should.

I feel bad for Jon Baldwin. He's going to have so many 4 catch, 45 yard games this year simply because Sunseri is young, inexperienced, not that good, or all three.

Pitt better find a way to throw the ball further than 10 yards down field or they will quickly lose this game and drop one in a couple weeks to Miami.

Lewis can only do so much.

Ya i feel better about THAT side of the ball for the Pitt game, as for utah, they look tough, if they win tonight, they could be a top 10 team by the time we play them

Well... he did all that with a very VERY good OL playing against the worst DLs in any major conference. I think he is over-hyped (like the entire Pitt team outside of Baldwin). I'm not saying he isn't a good player, I am saying he isn't that good. I don't think he's elite. I don't think he'll be a good pro player.

It's also important to remember that his backup averaged more yards per carry last year on a pretty healthy amount of touches. If you think he is Heisman material (like most experts do) that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. It is my opinion that last year if you put him on a middling SEC team he would only look above average... not all-World... and that is why I think he will not duplicate his successes this year behind a worse OL but the same soft defensive fronts.

as of right now the only thing he is bouncing off of is the ground.

primarily because the passing game is non existent, so thats never beneficial for a RB.

Lewis is fine, it's Baldwin who's overrated. He's only caught like one ball all night, and all they do is throw jump balls to him.

I absolutely respect your opinion but I disagree 100%. He finished 4th all time for rushing yards by a freshman. Two of the three that finished ahead of him are decent. (Adrian Peterson and Ron Dayne) Its very hard to run the football when the defense can put 8-9 guys in the box because the passing game is non existant. Im not saying that Pitt isnt overrated but your going off a first half of football against a very good Utah team.

And Lewis has like 60 yards on 18 carries. Listen, the whole team is overrated. Rivals put Lewis as their #4 overall player in the country... you're telling me that's accurate? I'm not a hater, I'm a realist... and while Lewis is definitely a very solid/good RB you couldn't convince me that he would even be the starter at Notre Dame if thrown in there with Cierre and Armando. Baldwin would start at any university in the country.

And how about that last possession! Blocked punt = 1st and goal on the 8... three plays later they're kicking a field goal from the 20.

Yeah... I mean I definitely said all of this before the season even started (and got equally slammed for it then) but I'm happy to debate football with people who are respectful and make logical points like yours. Everyone has an opinion and I'm not going to say my view of Lewis is validated by one game... but it'll be interesting to see how he does this year with the changes around him. For all I know he'll prove me wrong and run for 2000 :)

On the Utah side of the ball... is anyone else surprised by the speed and aggressiveness of their defense? They look pretty darn good right now.
