It kinda fits the Big Ten pattern though. The Big Ten didn't want Rutgers for their athletics, they wanted the NYC TV market and an academic school. UCF fits the same way.

In a vacuum I get some appeal of UCF, it’s why the Big 12 added them. But Miami does all of that and better and you’re already breaking up the ACC. It’s all just speculation anyways, it’d just think Miami speculation makes way more sense lol

I'm skeptical the Big Ten would snatch up THREE North Carolina schools when they could expand into Virginia, Georgia, etc. The USC/UCLA move made sense to completely lock the SEC out of Southern California... but they're already next-door in South Carolina. If the SEC gets NC State, who cares? Only way NC State and Duke come along for the ride is if UNC really fought for them... but why would they?

As for UCF, guarantee that's an ACC grant of rights thing. If FSU and Miami are asking for the Big Ten to shoulder some of the burden to get them out of it, it's just way, way cheaper to grab UCF.

Patrick's sources also said the B1G would be interested in the Virginia schools, but the Carolina schools would be a priority. I could see all three coming along. Keeps rivalries, helps a little with scheduling and wraps up the entire state for TV. Have to believe a lot of alum from those schools live in Charlotte.

“Fox agreed to the "A" package months ago. As part of its deal, it will carry a football game on the broadcast network at noon ET, plus football games on its cable channels FS1 and BTN, in which it holds a 60% stake.

The conference’s deals with CBS and NBC are not finalized. But it looks like the two networks are in the lead to split a "B" package. CBS would pick up games for the 3:30pm ET window, and NBC would carry games in primetime.”

ND can’t lose the option to be in prime time in their own network deal. Feel like B1G is cornering ND with every move they make.

Wait how is that not built into NDs deal with NBC already? Seems unlikely

Exclusivity that is

$350 mil for the 2nd or 3rd best B1G game of the week?

Yeah, this would strongly imply -- at least strictly from a ratings standpoint -- that 7 ND home games would be worth $200+ million if you had something to pair them with on "away" weeks. And that's nutty.

Notre Dame plus the Big 12 would nicely round out a programming schedule

I can tell you guys this... As soon as Jack, Kevin & Greg can figure out how to legally unravel the ACC, ND will be in the B1G as the last domino.

The only question left is will the B1G give another non-AAU member an invite or settle for GT, UNC & UVa?

But will it still be the B1G when the 48-60 teams leave for the Post-NCAA Alliance?

Our football is not under the gor. We will have a exit fee, 100 million, Olympic sports breaking gor and that is 6-8 million per year. 14 years left and that puts us at 140-210 million buyout after negotiating.

That's almost surely the #2 game every week, plus some basketball/streaming content I would think.

It's also possible the networks already know ND is going to be joining the B1G and that's part of the reason for the crazy numbers.

Not excluding ND, I think the B1G is still going after the Carolina schools and Pitt as part of the plan.

I know, two months ago I’d have said same about USC/UCLA, but I can’t see UNC and UVA breaking up the ACC.

Funny to see college football begin to self-regulate itself due to the total vacuum of leadership from the NCAA. At what point does a conference add enough teams to just become a division?

There are ways around it.

Will the juice be worth the squeeze? How rich does Wake expect to be?

I suspect if NBC carried more than ND, I’m going to have to cave and buy that damn Peacock network.

UNC would be the only one in play for the B1G.

As much as I'd love Pitt to be in ND's B1G pod, they just don't bring anything to the table that PSU/OSU don't already cover.

(This is while the B1G is in the NCAA. After they break away, they could/will get a little bigger)

I think it depends on how committed to AAU schools the B1G will stay. Being this is a money run at this point, I can see them making additional exceptions besides ND because of the exposure. The state of N. Carolina as a whole brings a lot of TV's. While CFB is driving the bus, adding UNC and Duke to your basketball menu only helps attract eyes.

After us, the two most meaningful adds for them at this point are probably UNC and Washington. I guess you then take Duke or UVA, and Oregon, to pair with them, and Stanford to pair with us. All those schools are in the AAU. You'd have to get to Syracuse or BC or Clemson or Miami before you're talking non-AAUs, and they're all unlikely for various reasons. We remain the lone exception. ;)

Greg Sankey is on Dan Patrick. When asked specifically if the SEC was in discussions with ND, he said he wouldn't answer that question. TIFWIW, Patrick also said his source is still saying ND is in no hurry to join a conference.

Why would we be in a hurry, we're the five star QB looking for the biggest pay day.

To early?

So if NBC gets the Saturday night slot... that means either ND joins the Big Ten, only plays USC or another B1G team to stay on NBC and have primetime slot, or moves networks. Does that seem accurate?
