Anyone going to any good non-ND football games this season? I'll be at Boston College for the FSU game (a Friday night) and whatever Temple games I'm not able to unload my season tickets for. I haven't decided whether I'm going to boo or cheer Golson.

He's playing for FSU.

FSU

I hope he loses every game... and then has a wonderful career in the NFL.

Same here just in general for this season. I'm going to be pretty annoyed if he has a great year and we struggle for 8-9 wins. At the same time, I'd much rather see Golson win it all than an SEC team or OSU or Oregon....

I don't care if it makes me sound petty, I would rather see my grandparents **** than see Golson and Jimbo "He's a tremendous kid" Fisher on stage together holding up the national championship trophy.

I've got UC season tickets. Their home slate is pretty weak except for two games: a Thursday night game hosting Miami (FL), and a late-October tilt against UCF.

I'm pretty pumped for those games.

Last season, there were zero conflicts between UC's home schedule and ND's kickoff times, so I didn't miss a single moment of ND football, which was my dream scenario.

This season, UC's FIRST GAME at renovated Nippert Stadium, and their first game on campus in two seasons, kicks off at 7:00pm the same night ND plays Texas at 7:30pm.

Do I go to New Nippert for the opening of the new stadium? Or do I skip it since it's a crappy opponent and catch ND-Texas?

I've got a high school friend who is getting married that Saturday. Seriously considering driving to see him the week before, drinking with him, and staying at home to watch the game. I mean... it's the first gameday of the year and it's ND Texas.

I am definitely going to take in a Vanderbilt game or two now that we are residents here. I don't know if I will be able to get up to Knoxville this season, but that is on my list too.

One of my college buddies is getting married in Cincinnati the Saturday of the USC game..... I already told him hes uninvited from my wedding, which is in August, because of his lack of consideration for the football schedule...

I go to random UCLA games here and there, it's usually a decision made within that week though...

Sports fandom on the left coast is such a depressing thing. Games like Stanford-USC played in 76 degree weather with maybe a third of the stadium empty.

I've had good friends who happen to not be sports fans at all (half of us are sports guys the other half are nerdy comic book stoners, odd mix I know) that have gotten married during cfb Saturday/ND games... I have told each that I have a family obligation and send a gift and well wishes... none have caught on yet.. ;)

I will probably be attending the UT-Arkansas game. We always hit one or two vol games a year.

It's crazy to me that you still think your area has the best food in the country. It simply isn't true.

Best Pizza - NY/Chicago
Best Italian - NY/Chicago
Best Steak Sammich - Philly
Best Greek - Chicago
Best Ribs - Memphis or somewhere else in the south
Best Seafood - The Southeast US
Best Hot Dog - Chicago
Best Chili - Texas
Best Mexican - Tejas, New Mexico and Colorado all give Cali a run for their money.

Just because you guys have cornered the market on hummus and couscous, doesn't mean that you have the best food. Plus Cali has the worst government, worst people and worst sense of superiority. I love your weather and scenery, but you don't have that market cornered there either.

The best pizza is in Northeastern PA... but I feel that should have it's own thread for debate.

I know, but I'm still conflicted. ND is my priority... but UC hasn't been at Nippert for over a year, and going to the first game at newly renovated Nippert is kind of a unique experience. But it's ND-Texas.

One of my college buddies is getting married in Cincinnati the Saturday of the USC game..... I already told him hes uninvited from my wedding, which is in August, because of his lack of consideration for the football schedule...

I'm getting married in October... but I chose a Friday. That was literally the only thing I decided about my wedding haha. (And the honeymoon to Dublin and London, which will conflict with the USC game, but at least I'm not subjecting anyone else to that conflict).

Get the fuck outta here with that noise... pfft....

Take a trip to Old Forge, PA... small town of 8,000 that supports 20 local pizza joints. Stop in at Ghigiarelli's or Arcaro & Genell's, get the double crusted white pizza, and then come back here and tell me I'm wrong.

After Old Forge, go a few towns over and try out Sabatini's, or DeMuro's, or Fort Cafe, or Victory Pig (famous for fried pizza), or Grotto... I could go on and on. There are literally hundreds of pizza places in NEPA.

NYC is good and I've had some get slices there, but it can't touch the variety or creativity of NEPA pizza. Also, Chicago deep dish sucks.

EDIT: randomly found this article that gives an overview on Old Forge style: Pizza Capital of the World: Tasting Our Way Through Old Forge, PA | Serious Eats

Best seafood southeast US? Boston, Maryland, and Seattle might have something to say about that.

My wedding was so low key, I got off easy, but not having it in the Fall was one of the few things I put my foot down on... it wasn't a major battle though and was easily settled on the Summer.

Rhode Island hands down.

In saying that one time i went out on a fishing charter in Florida and the 1st mate caught a cobia and cut some fillets up for all the customers, took some home and fried it up in breadcrumbs and it was probably the best seafood I've ever eaten in my life.

My family is way too large for low-key, and the numbers and timing that my fiance wanted made fall our only option, really. So I had to put my foot down on making it a Friday, at least.

The only thing I have to worry about is trying to watch ND-USC from London the next week lol.
