McAvoy is a big loss. USA needs to match their last defensive performance to have a chance and Hellebuyck needs to be the best player on the ice.
With the roster they have, not a terrible loss if he can't go. He's a damn good player for sure, and probably would be extra amped up since he's a Bruin and they're playing in his home barn. Losing him with either or bothTkachuk boys is a concernHow big of a deal is losing McAvoy?

Grand Forks would be a better location. Hockey obsessed community. Proper infrastructure to support the teamThink how much better the US team would be if US development hockey program wasn't based in ann arbor

This Is the inaugural year. We need this one as the first ever 4 Nation battle.More international hockey please. Great for the game. Gets casuals like me into it
Hockey and Soccer are the only main sports that take international play seriousThis Is the inaugural year. We need this one as the first ever 4 Nation battle.
Hockey's great. Back in my early days we beat Russia and It was the best thing to ever happen for hockey and our beautiful country.
If the NBA did this, Lebron would be out with a broken finger nail already, and Serbia would run us over.

Russia needs to play as well.
They could make an "assorted" Europe team (would be mostly Czech probs)
Could let Quebec have a team (let the player choose if he wants to play for Canada or Quebec)
Could let the NCAA put in an all-star team (doubt their coaches would like that though)
Quebec had 1 player on the team this year lol.Me and friends were throwing around ideas.

Just brainstorming ideas to get it to 8 teams or something. All it takes is a hot goalie standing on his dead as Canada showed in OT tonight lol.Quebec had 1 player on the team this year lol.
Well they need Russia.Right now 2026 (Olympics) and 2028 (World Cup of Hockey) are official and will be individual countries. 2030 is tentatively expected.
Question is Russia for both and then how many countries in the World Cup. I would expect USA, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Czechia and that is where the questions start because they indicated 8 teams. Whoever shows best in 2026 between Slovakia, Germany etc will probably end up included in 2028. Or who has the most marketable players by that time.
Pretty sad for Canadian hockey when Jordan Binnington is your best option in goal. Dude played lights out the year he was called up and the blues won the cup...but has been Charmin soft ever since
lol Quebec would get dumpstered, like not a competitive roster, which I wouldn't mind at all. You'd have a much better Team Minnesota than Team Quebec.Just brainstorming ideas to get it to 8 teams or something. All it takes is a hot goalie standing on his dead as Canada showed in OT tonight lol.
Binnington should not have been the pick, Blackwood/Thompson would have been much better picks. Binnington's high danger sv% is lower, and his goals saved above expected is also lower. Binnington has the flashy name so of course Hockey Canada went with him.Jinx.
As a Blues fan, it was unsurprising to watch him foil us tonight. This is who he is. It’s also not true he’s been soft since the Cup win. In the 2021 playoffs he had a 95% SV % and 1.7 GAA before being injured by the Avs, the eventual Cup champions. While all of Canada whined, no player or coach ever doubted why Cooper went with Binnington for this.
