I am sure you do. I don't really understand the logic behind this trade for the Kings, but at least it isn't too expensive. I really liked Weal through his minor career, but Kings still have a lot of good forwards in the pipeline.
Yeah it's relatively cheap and I think Schenn will fit in well.

What do you think of the Caps signing Richards to a one year deal?

Low risk high reward. The caps are really really good. So he's looking at a 3rd/4th line spot. I just don't know what he's got left in him.

I like Schenn. Had to bring in someone since Matt Greene is done for the year.

I think he'll be a good bottom pairing guy, not the fastest but can kill penalties, makes a nice first pass. Should be really good for them

I did not think the Jackets would actually trade Joey. Jones better sign an extension of this is a huge swing and miss

I think it's a win-win for both, but I like it for Nashville more. Johansen should be a great fit in Lavy's system.

Also can't stand the Toews and Ovi suspensions, getting suspended for a meaningful game because you are injured/sick and don't show up to a glorified pick up game is a joke.

So whats the short version story of this Scott guy?
He's an enforcer and has 5 goals in his career, and has spent a ton of time in the minors lately.

The way the NHL all star game works is the fans vote in a captain for each of the 4 divisions and the NHL names the rest. Fans started an online campaign to vote him in. He ended up winning, the NHL at first tried talking him out of the game and used his daughters against him.

Then a couple weeks ago Arizona threw him in a trade that sent him to Montreal, and Montreal had every intention of sticking him the minors, so he changed divisions and was no longer in the NHL, thinking this would keep him out of the all-star game. Quite a few people thought the trade was orchestrated by the NHL. Fans rioted and the NHL came out and said he'd still be in it.

I will take him as a rent player and love it. Can't wait to raise another cup in a couple months. And we didn't have to give up Teuvo!

Don't really like the trade for Chicago.

Looking more into it, I like it a little bit more now. Dano is a high-quality prospect, but sadly he just didn't seem to click in our system (couldn't get out of Rockford). I had hopes for him, but I still think he can be a good player. As for this season (and possibly moving forward), Ladd is a huge get, because now you have your LW hole filled on the 1st line. Ladd, Toews, Hossa followed by Kane, Anisimov and Breadman? Jesus...

Also allows Q to put Shaw back on the 3rd where he belongs.

The Saad trade basically turned into Ladd and Anisimov. I'd take that everyday

Yep. We desperately needed a 2nd winger to pair with Toews. That top line is a total mess right now, but when Hossa returns and Ladd is inserted into the lineup, that is instantly a crazy pairing.

Chicago going for it all again.

I think it was pretty fair for both sides. I really like Ladd as a player, and just adds more veteran leadership and skill to their top-6. Really hope the Devils sign him in the off-season.

Having Kane, Toews, Hossa, Panarin, and now Ladd featured on your top two lines is deadly.

And the third line looks a lot better now with Shaw.

Ladd will also help on the PK.

They gave up a lot for a rental player but he's going to help this team.

Really? You are happy turning a 22 year top line winger into a 2nd line center and a less than 4 month rental?

Given the salary situation and if Ladd can produce as well as we believe he can, absolutely.

Saad wanted more than what the Hawks could offer, which is why he's over in Columbus getting his ass whooped.

Anisimov has been a revelation for the Hawks. They've constantly struggled to land a long-term solution on the 2nd line at centre. Now they have it. The Hawks have wingers up the wazzu on the squad and in Rockford.

If it ends up meaning a Stanley Cup then yes absolutely. Bowman and Co recognize that they're in their championship window right now with Toews and Kane in their prime and the backend stars getting older.

I can see both sides.

It's definitely true that the 2nd line center was a constant issue for the Hawks requiring constant temporary or patchwork solutions over the year (Handzus, really??), and it's great to have Anisimov and not have to worry about it for a while. I know Bowman had been a long-time admirer of Anisimov. If Saad had to go, it was a great deal.

But I'd still rather have kept Saad. Bowman could have figured out another way to get Anisimov or a guy like him. Saad is one of the best athletes in the NHL, for my money. What a weapon a guy like that is in the new OT format, for example. And he was only going to keep getting better. I'm still bummed about that situation because I think Saad really wanted to stay and his agent kind of bungled the deal.

Going to my first ever hockey game tomorrow, Wild hosting Avalanche. Have no gear, or expectations really. Seen one full hockey game on TV in my life.

Then when Ladd asks for what he's gonna want and goes somewhere else you're back at square one and bought, what 40 games tops? Wow

Saad wanted more than what the Hawks could offer, which is why he's over in Columbus getting his ass whooped.
And already at 25 or so goals, but yeah let's ignore that. They could have made the $6M work, christ they gave Anisimov an extension right about the deal was made

I mean, he's a good player and all but a "Revelation"? Those 2 guys he is playing with have a lot with it.

Yeah, I guess. But basically getting hardly anything to show for top end talent still is inexcusable in my books.

Also Kane is having a great year so it's hard to complain about his contract, but I said from the day it was signed, giving that contract to #19 was a huge mistake.

IIRC, they couldn't dump bickel and there was no way to sign saad and stay under the cap. You could argue bowman should have planned better but they didn't deal saad bc they thought it was a better deal - he was a cap casualty.

You'd let toews walk? He's in his prime and the leader of a team that won three cups. I'd pay and take my chances with him.

I wouldn't let him walk but I woulda dragged it on more instead of giving him $10.5m. That contract is absolutely absurd for him. Cups are irrelevant to me, all that says is that he's on a good team.

Rumor is he gave them a discount and would have got a bigger deal on the open market. Who knows if that's true but it wouldn't surprise me.

Absurd? It's a lot of money, but Toews is one of the best players in the league and one of the best captains in any sport today. He's more than earned that salary.
