Wait, the playoffs are moving to this?? Honestly? I totally missed that... and hate it.

It's been 5 on 5 sudden death for a while now, I thought...

Regular season is a 5 minute 4 on 4 and shootout. Playoffs are continuous 20 minute 5 on 5. I'm almost positive it's been that way forever.

On a side note, the NHL lessened the penalty because of the Kovy contract and gave us a 30th overall pick in this years draft along with $1.5M. Pretty happy about that.

Road to the Western Conference Finals still goes through L.A. Kings are starting to find their stride, are on a good pace to win the Jennings Trophy and should be ready for another extended playoff run. Will Gaborik help with that goal? I'm not sold on him, but who knows?

I took the previous comments for the playoffs moving to the reg. season model, where playoff games, including game sevens would be decided by shoot outs...

I misread the first comment I quoted.

I would stop watching the NHL if the shootout made it into the playoffs. Has no place in professional hockey.

Agreed, hence the way I reacted when I misunderstood the point...

I'd be more than happy if kings eliminated the blues again.

I called the last two Stanley Cup winners prior to the playoffs... if i had to pick a team right now I'd go with the Blues.

Blues look every bit the part right now. I have no faith in Anaheim or San Jose (as usual), so the West is a two team race IMO with CHI and STL, and the Kings & Avs being "functionally frisky" as the Sports Guy would say.

I think it would be a mistake to look past Anaheim...

Ian Cole sniped one tonight for the Blues.

No idea why he was in or where that came from but nice to see!

Is Fleury getting better with time? He's really impressed me in this last series with Ovi and the Caps.

Just noticed he's a September birthday, holy crap.

Yeah, he is almost a full year younger than Seth Jones if I'm not mistaken. IIRC, when Colorado were deciding on their pick, one of the things they were trying to do was factor in that there was almost a full year's difference in age between Jones and MacKinnon.

Ok here's another one of my "The Sky is Falling posts" because, THE SKY IS FUKIN FALLING FOR RED WING FANS!!!! Im starting to get really discouraged... This Wings Defense is fukin atrocious.... The entire team lacks consistency, and they cant finish games to save their lives. At this point they dont deserve to make the play offs..... I cant beleive what im watching. And fuk the Blue Jackets. Seriously.. Fuk them and fuk Columbus. I hate that fukin town.

Tough one for the Hawks tonight, fun to watch them play physical for once (Don't think Simmonds will come after Bicks again)

Tomorrows game against St Louis should be an awesome game to watch. It's on my bucket list to see a St Louis - Chicago game in both stadiums.

Lord, to lose like that with 4.2 seconds to go, after having led early ... real tough. I freaking hate Hartnell.

I talked to a guy who made a weekend out of a Blues/Hawks game in STL a couple years ago ... took the train down from Chicago to St. Louis for the game, stayed at a downtown hotel, didn't drive anywhere, never left the downtown area, just boozed and hung out. Said it was a great experience and I always wanted to do that for a guys' weekend or something.
