So many huge contracts for players that I really don't think are worth it.. At all.. Teams are always willing to overspend regardless of a weak FA market, wait till next year.. If you haven't seen the potential FA class for 14.. Go take a look, you might be second guessing your teams big payouts to a clowe, clarkson, or even a Horton, or be excited that your team is passing on landing free agents this year.

Well he's injury prone but we got him for cheap compared to the Clarkson and Clowe debacles. The contract is frontloaded so we can buy him out easily at the end of 5 years.

I'd be afraid of Horton simply because he's another concussion away from god forbid his career being pretty much over.

Horton needs surgery to repair his shoulder after a dislocation. Will be available in January. Good player none the less. Bruins signed Jerome Iginla today to an incentive lad*n contract. He will replace Horton on the 1st line w Krecji and Lucic. With yesterday's trade of Sequin, the B's will slide Louis Ericsson onto the 2nd line w Bergeron and Marchand. They now have cap space to sign Rask to a new contract and some additional space for another player or 2. The B's will need to replace Peverly (went w Sequin to Dallas), Andrew Ferrence (allowed to walk in FA) and Jagr. I like the moves they've made and have confidence they will fill out roster properly. Always good to have a competent GM. Weird that the software edits out the word l a d e n.

Buyouts can only happen after this year and next.

The Bulin wall is back in Chicago, hopefully he can be as good as Emery was at spelling Crawford

Amnesty is only this year and next.
Teams can still buy out players as always, but you still pay said player 2/3 or 1/3 the salary due (depending on age) the difference being is normal buyouts work against a teams cap, where amnestys do not. If Columbus bought out Horton with two years left under the normal buy out rules, they would be required to pay 2/3 of the remaining money due over 4 years.. AND a cap hit of 2/3s hortons salary hangs on for that 4 year period. So normal buy out rules really hurt a club. Works as great protection of players who sign large deals that will extend into the late stages of a players career.

I know that's what I mean. Amnesty= compliance buyout.

Either way still a bad signing

Assuming your top 6 centers are flipped hahaha

Definitely stronger then last years squad, how much that's saying is up for debate.
As you mentioned, I expect mez the glass man to be shipped out for a couple of pucks.

The interesting thing I see is, Laughton. I expect him to make this squad out of camp, he's ready. And I think it's gonna be one of the situations where he's gonna be too good to keep off the ice.

Talbot is a move that could make room, Habs have been linked to him as well as Coburn, maybe package those two with a pick or two for pacioretty? Pure spitballing on that one.

With Laughtons emergence. I think a young center is expendable, one without a brother on the team, yes couturier, which is leads me to believe homer is not done. Idk where he goes or what he goes for. But I'm convinced he's not done, could mean he swings for the fence. (Offersheet Pietrangelo? Bogosian?) get g a wing on his hip, I've heard evander Kane..

I wouldn't hate, and wouldn't be much of a reach at all if they call jagr and use the 10% on jagrbombs.

Haha yeah. I don't know why it flipped G and Vinny.

I'd rather keep Schenn then Couturier. I'd see about packaging him and Coburn, or something. Like you I think an offer sheet or another big move is coming.

I love coots but agreed, Laughton offers the same skill set I believe without the ceiling that couturier has. Schenners game is more at a premium to this team.

I don't see them doing in but if love them to knock on Jonathan Blums door, don't see that happening but I'd like it, he's an offensive Dman which is something we have alot of suddenly, but he's 24 and has upside, can't believe Nash didn't qualify him.

I don't really see that happening.

That's the talk. Apparently the Sabres very much want Oshie, I REALLY don't want to lose him. There's also talks of a Blues First Rounder being involved as well as Drew Stafford and also Jake Allen instead of Halak

I think the Blues would rather move Stewart than Oshie.

I'm also still pissed we ended up with Roy instead of Weiss

Also Armstrong won't come out and say it but moving Perron was pretty much because he was a bitch and cleared up space to resign Pietrangelo

Sounds like a lockout casualty. He liked being home in Russia so much he figures he'll do it permanently.

Getting $20M to play in the KHL doesn't hurt either.

Also I have a conspiracy theory why he left.

Do tell.....

More or less I just find the timing weird. After free agency and the Devils are hurting financially and what makes it more odd is the Devils didn't even seem to care, they pretty much went "yeah ok" and let it happen. I mean, your biggest star, and best player leaves and you don't even seem to care?

My theory(I could be way way off on this), is that around the time they signed the deal(2010) the Devils were aware of his interest in the KHL, so both sides came up with the long term deal knowing it wouldn't be honored and would let him walk to get his KHL payday.

I could be wrong though, but I smell a rat here.
