Even the kickers are getting in on the fun. This could be good news for Gordon though since he was facing a similar suspension for the banned substance policy.

Really thought they would reduce it.

It was either the whole year or no suspension at all. Odds were pretty much stacked against him. Should have tried to work out some sort of settlement with the league.

I know this won't be popular, but what does misbehavior in your personal life have to do with the NFL? I'm furious that Ray Rice won't be serving any prison time, but I feel like the place to settle a domestic violence issue is the courtroom, not the workplace.

Wonder how they'll handle Josh Brent now. If he gets less than a season, then nothing makes sense.

Oh well that was my mistake. I was thinking Justin Brent. Brent should never be allowed back in the league.

UPDATE | Colts owner Irsay pleads guilty to OWI charge; gets probation, suspended license | Fox 59

A lot of the talk on ESPN and sports radio has called for a 1 year suspension.

Reports: NFL, NFLPA close on new drug-testing program - CBSSports.com

Not sure if it opens a door for Gordon since his failed test was from 2013, but this could be a significant change.

If you haven't seen the most recent video, it's brutal.

I haven't seen the video and I am still unsure if I want to watch it. From all I have heard about it is that it is worse than you can imagine. The NFL better revisit their decision on the punishment of Ray Rice and consider a far stiffer penalty.

The video is a non-story to me. What did people think happened that resulted in her being knocked unconscious? I've assumed this is what happened the entire time.

This is pretty much where I am. I mean, we knew he knocked her out, so it must have been a vicious punch. The way people reacted on Twitter I expected to him sucker-punch her with an uppercut. This is almost exactly what I expected happened, that is, a really shitty thing.

What is a story, to me, is that the NFL is saying they never saw the tape when multiple reporters had it on good authority that they did. I will be watching that unfold.

Yeah, I heard at least a few talking heads say that part of the reason the punishment was so light is that no one knew exactly what happened in the elevator. Weak excuse and might have been inaccurate, but that, to me, is why this is news.

That's disgusting. Ray Rice should be ashamed, as should Roger Goodell. Goodell is a complete assclown.

To the lawyers here: what is the legal line between self-defense and domestic abuse? She was slapping him and appeared to be moving forward to attack him at the end. Did he have the legal right to "defend" himself?

Didn't Ray Rice start the whole thing by spitting on the woman? Thus, isn't she the victim who would be claiming sel-defense and acting in self-defense? Isn't spitting on someone considered assault?

IMO she was defending herself and he was provoking, making the whole situation even more disgusting. Rice should be further punished.
