Works for me - either one. Doesn't have to be a lot of juice, just a little something to get people to pay attention.
How does like $10-20 work for everyone?
I'm kewl with this. I'll be in for $10 to $20. How do we structure the payout?I propose we start at $20 this year and then increase by $10 every year up to a $50 max. That way people are serious about this, which is important for a keeper league.
I also propose the two keepers may only be from rounds three or later. So anyone picked in rounds 1 and 2 may not be a keeper the following season.

Remind me of our playoff structure. Four teams, two weeks, or six teams (with byes) over three weeks?1st Place gets 160.
2nd place gets 50.
(Players in the championship game can work out a split between them if they wish but must be agreed to by both parties before the games)
Winner of 3rd place game gets 30.
Does that seem fair?

I like the first idea, but not sure I like or understand the limitation on sleepers. I would vote against that.

It's certainly a more fair way to identify the "best team" but, as you mentioned, goes against what makes Fantasy Football exciting for me, which is the head-to-head each week. Note that the "fluke win" argument is one I have made several times in my opposition to the College Football Playoff. Everyone except the European soccer fans bite my head off every time I bring it up, but head-to-head is really a poor way to identify a champion due to the "any given Sunday" effect. It's not a perfect system, but everyone in our league enjoys it and feels it has been proven to be more fair. Anyone have thoughts on this? I'm curious.
It was four teams, two weeks last year but we can change it to six teams w/ byes over 3 weeks if people prefer that. I honestly think I would personally rather the 6 teams. Get more guys in there.
I think I prefer a smaller playoff when there's money on the line. Otherwise you end up with a situation like BBG just brought up where a mediocre #6 team works his way into the money with a fluke win over teams that have performed more consistently throughout the season. I don't feel strongly about this, so I'm open to being outvoted. It's fairly standard to have a limitation on keepers. Let's say the best player in the draft is Matt Forte. And let's say he is the best player every year. You wouldn't want the first pick in the draft to be able to keep the best player indefinitely.
The point of a keeper is to draft young guys/later picks that you can hold on to for awhile. Not to keep the elite guys.
Standard for a 12 man league is 6 teams with byes to the top 2 seeds.

I run a 12-team league that has a $75 buy-in.
We've had a couple years where there is a runaway points leader that decimates the league during the season, but then loses on a fluke in the playoffs. So, to balance it a bit, we put a bonus payment out there for the regular season points leader, and also award $10 to the high score each week as an additional bonus. I like the weekly bonus because it gives the bottom teams incentive to keep making moves and try to eek out a late win or two, but it also rewards the best regular season team a bit more.
Here were our payouts that try to account a bit for general flukiness:
1st Place: $380
2nd Place: $150
3rd Place: $60
Regular Season Points Leader: $150
Weekly High Score Payout Total: $160
So if you're the best team all year, lead in points, but then get ousted from the playoffs, you at least win some cash from being the points leader and probably via some weekly bonuses as well.
If you crushed the league all year AND win the playoffs, then you are rewarded accordingly for not being victimized by a fluke. Last year, our winner got 1st place and was the points leader, and had quite a few bonuses, so he cleaned up.
The year before, I snuck into the playoffs and then put together a miracle run, so I got $380 for my late-season savvy, but the regular season points leader was still rewarded handsomely as well.
I like the payout system you use. We've done something similar. It helps keep the bottom feeders engaged for the whole season.
Jordy Nelson just tore his ACL.
The guy in our league that has first pick is keeping Cobb. We were all laughing at him, but he's a big Packers fan. He had Brees, but outside of that, his team stunk (hence having a good pick). So he figured he would pick Cobb, grab a good player with the #1 overall pick, then rename his team "Slob On My Cobb".
His plan is turning out nicely for him so far.

Or how much money we pay and to whom.Did we settle on a draft time/date?

Gronk is the single most valuable fantasy player in the league if he stays healthy. Like, you could make an argument for #1 overall pick kinds of valuable. The reason being there's a huge drop-off from him to the rest of the population of tight ends. You can get decent quarterback, running back, and wide receiver production in late rounds. But there's only one tight end that will do Gronk amounts of production.I kept Forte in my keeper league. I have pick 3. So it'll either be Rodgers, Luck, Lacey, Lynch, or Charles. I expect 1 of each of those position to be off the board as the guy will draft a QB and the guy at 2 a RB. So who is your top 3 in order from that list?
On a side note, the guy at 5 kept Gronk instead of Luck. That confuses me greatly.
