Agree. Hard to say if it was his call on the money issue. We do know he created this mess by making Freeman choose Rees as OC.
Do we really know this though. Everyone assumes it to be fact.

I get it that TR was retained before the announcement of Freeman. Isn't it possible that during the interview process they asked for his opinion on TR and if he were to be named head coach, would he want him retained? Does anyone KNOW what truly happened beyond speculation. Does anyone KNOW that MF had no input?

Regardless, in the end it was the best thing that could've happened. We are struggling to get an OC with a very good OL, a proven running attack, and Sam Hartman. Last year none of that would've been true.

I genuinely wonder if Jack would’ve been fine with paying the buyout if Ludwig had graduated from ND.

I don’t normally see his tweets. Is this a good view from him?
My guess is Tom funnels some money to players. They seem to know him well, he often tweets at them with encouraging remarks and they refer to him as "Mr. Mendoza." Just speculation on my part. He seems like a big supporter of the team and is usually fair.

When did IE become NDN-light?

In 24 hrs, I've seen:

  • BOT botched this
  • Swarbrick is responsible for child abuse (and I'm enabling him by thinking he's smart)
  • Swarbrick signed the UA deal to get his kid a job
  • Swarbrick guided ND to NBC to get his kid a job
  • ND is Iowa with more tradition
  • Everyone in the administration should be fired

This has become so much more interesting than prior off-seasons with Kelly at the helm. Almost zero turnover on the staff and nothing so sensational. I hope Freeman has a strong vision to pull us through this and put a high-powered product on the field this fall.

It’s a crazy off season time, people like ranting. It’s like getting mad at the negativity in the game day threads.

That's absurd. I cannot recall Iowa's athletic department humiliating itself in this way.
Kirk Ferentz hired his son who had only ever had experience in the NFL coaching because of his dad. He's only coached at Iowa and ran their terrible offense. That is like if BK hired his kid and then kept him on staff for six years watching him run out a terrible offense in year 5 and STILL employing him.

Classic message board overreaction. You would think we just lost to Marshall or something. It reminds me of the board during games which is always nutty.
We haven’t hired an OC yet. It’s February. The jobs been vacant for 10 days. Get a grip.

It will be a really big bummer if ND ends up with Parker. And here we all are thinking the OC for ND was a big time job, and this is what they end up with. It's actually kind of pitiful.

I am not a Freeman hater, but two of the most embarrassing things to occur over the past few years were made worse by Freeman "going public" with info that shouldn't have been made public.

MF was the one that chose to go public telling boosters publicly at an event that we got a guy coming that's going to change college football. No he didn't say the name Dante, but everyone knew and it certainly shouldn't have been spoken of publicly. If Dante wasn't ready to go public, the head coach shouldn't be divulging that information even if the boosters were getting restless.

I have no idea if MF on his own decided to take Ludwig to the hockey game. I thought it was super odd at the time even when I was convinced he was coming. I've never seen something like that with someone interviewing. That appearance has made this ten times worse.

I don’t think these are comparable at all. An extremely small portion of the fanbase knows that Moore story, and virtually nobody that is not a ND fan. I wouldn’t even consider it public.

Its not a bummer...its a damn disgrace. If I'm Sam Hartman Im back in the portal, didnt transfer to improve my stock only to be gifted Parker as my new OC

think this outcry has made a difference?

I will say this, it seems that there has been a lack of the usual spin this time and maybe people just don’t want to spin this because they know it’s ridiculous.

Mike Frank suggests we call up Denbrock. Says he thinks Harry would stay if he was coming. Hire a QB coach and be done with it.

I cant tell if he's off his meds again or that this isn't the worst idea I've heard.
