Driskell had decent Intel and commentary last night.

It seems like it was a comedy of errors which honors Swarbrick in the background vetoing the buyout. For whatever reason they initially had Ludwig‘s original contract. Swarbrick didn’t want to pay the higher amount on the second contract. He didn’t think Ludwig was that good of an office of coordinator to pay the money. So Swarbrick is still controlling things.

It shows that Swarbrick doesn’t trust Freeman. He probably believes he knows best for the program and that Freeman is his young coach he needs to bring along and educate the world to.

Driscoll called out Swarbrick and Ron Powlus.

I’m not having much of a booster Netwerk that just gives Swarbrick all the power over the program.

I don't buy it, he didn't know that ND was making a 2nd run until loy told him lol. Didn't know ND was going after him in the first place until someone on the ND board posted a flight log from SLC to South Bend. Ludwig may very well wind up staying in Utah but I don't buy that Football scoop, ISD, and Loy all got scooped by this guy, given that.

All I know for certain is we paraded Ludwig around in public intentionally and didn’t land him…. That alone is terrible

If the stuff i have read about Swarbrick vetoing the hire because he didnt like Ludwig is true, then that's bullshit. He needs to go as he has gotten too big for his britches. Fix the fucking basketball program instead of letting Brey completely run it into the ground. Let Freeman do his fucking job.

Listening/reading much of the ND Beat's response to this debacle made it apparent to me that twice in the last year and a half has the overwhelming majority of fans/alum/donors rallied around Freeman. Jamie U on ISD mentioned it on the podcast yesterday that ND faithful are almost unanimously upset about how this all went down. It reminded me of how ND faithful almost unanimously rallied behind coach Freeman after BK left. In my time as a fan, I'm not sure the ND program has had it's loyal fans rally behind one man like they have with Freeman. Usually you see a split; like with P4P, academic standards, etc. People have opinions and fans pick sides. I haven't seen many people siding with anyone besides Freeman in those two instances.

Agree. Hard to say if it was his call on the money issue. We do know he created this mess by making Freeman choose Rees as OC.
