That’s life. Im sure NFL coaches care about their pupils as much as any profession. But ultimately you get what you give.

At Kent St Sean’s teams were 33 pts to 28 pts per game his last year as head coach. Not too impressive. Guy seems like a douche anyway.

I’m not seeing the Sean Lewis love. His numbers look mediocre for his O and his team…at best.

What are we missing as to why he’d be great as an OC at ND?

Most of them the same employees who steal company time, work half ass, and would quit or leave at the drip of a hat. It all cuts both ways. Im sorry you’re a middle manager.

There are also millions of small businesses in this country that dont operate under this corporate umbrella who take good of employees, but they are all fighting over the same shit pool of employees.
I’m not sorry I’m a middle manager. I help really good people do great work. I trust them a lot more than I trust most of the bosses and their stupid office politics. My employees don’t come from a “shit pool” but I don’t know where you work.

Back to reality...in my opinion, to offset Freeman's lack of experience at O, you definitely want someone with experience. Im not sure if the interest would be reciprocated but Ludwig from Utah seems like a slam dunk to me.

Experienced OC who runs a balanced offense, which fits in right at ND. Someone mentioned his LDS roots and I know that ND is LDS friendly, especially with missions and such. Maybe this is the guy...

Nah his numbers are crazy. He is a great OC mind and interviewed with a lot of higher jobs but didn't land them. Look at Kent State's schedule last year. Oklahoma, Washington and Georgia. Kent State was desperate for $$$$$$

Have a friend who works close with the Kent football team. Players and staff loved Lewis. I’d take him in a heartbeat. Highly thought of and those 28-33 pts/game are pretty good for the lack of talent at Kent. Took them to back to back bowl games and coached MAC MVP Dustin Crum at QB. Take him or Johnson in a heart beat.

If these schools really cared and wanted to help they wouldn’t make kids take out a 30 yr loan to go to college.

Did you fall down and bump your head?

No one forces anyone to take out 30 yr loans. If you want that level of education you have to want to do that on your own.

Do you know why it cost so much for college? The pay speakers hundreds of thousands of dollars for essentially nothing, They pay professors ungodly amount of money, Money goes to the up keep of the college and the infrastructure (some campuses are the size of towns) Then you have to pay the doers the do the paperwork, the maintenance projects and that's just scratching the surface.

I have heard nothing but great things about Lewis. Kent St is a really tough job and they were respectable under him. It wasn't his fault the admin made him play all those money games

These guys are teachers basically. The teacher doesn’t really care about your kid.

I know i shouldn't reply to you on this but i am going to bite.

Just like every profession you will have bad apples. So this will apply to a very small percentage of teachers. However, i have a lot of friends and family that are teachers and i can tell you they do care. And they care a lot.

And coaches are teachers but they aren't at the same time. Again i think we have the best staff in place right now that cares about the kids that come to Notre Dame that we have had overall in a long time.

Brian Johnson just seems really unlikely. I know they have a scheduled interview and all that but, plenty of reports that Steichen is a front runner for Colts coupled with still a lot of HC/OC movement in the NFL to be had. Johnson is going to have his share of options to stay in the league.

All MAC jobs are tough. Some tougher than others. Kent State has one of the lowest endowments in that conference. They have THE lowest all time winning percentage in the conference, have one MAC title and have been to three bowl games. Lewis took them to two of those.

It's a little surprising he would cut his teeth as an offensive coordinator in the NFL. That's the only sliver of hope I have is that people want to hire him as Co-OC or QB coach elsewhere and maybe ND can pay enough to make it enticing for him to create offenses for a couple years in college before getting called up.

Awesome. Can someone bring me up to speed on who he is? Please.
Edit: I just looked him up. He had a terrible head coaching record at Kent state.
Interestingly, as a player he played tight end and punt returned (rare combo?).
What don’t I know about him that makes people think he would be good?
For Kent State they were miracle seasons.

Hearing that Candle is very interested and would take the job over Miami's OC position.

Have no idea what the interest is on ND's side, but in reading the tea leaves down here, it seems like Candle wants the ND job.

I am not interested in a 1 year rental. If a guy will commit to a minimum of 2 years (I think that is Saban's rule/policy) I could live with a guy like Johnson. If not, I still have Moorehead and Ludwig as my top 2 (of names we know).

That being said, I read somewhere (Twitter?) that something like 24 people have been contacted/in contact with Vinny's Dad.

This deserves more attention. I take this as a “wink wink” post. I’ve read posts from II long enough to read between the lines. Similar to Prister’s film reviews.

If Johnson doesn’t land a NFL job, I’d put him as most likely to be Notre Dame’s new OC.
That was my thought when I read this. Kind of like how Tom just started randomly dropping thoughts on the football program hiring a GM, including a name he likes

Prister is really bad at keeping things a secret. This probably his way of saying that it’s Johnson’s job if he wants it.

Didn’t know about the team potentially hiring a GM.

Apparently in the process of putting a GM position in place. Loy even pinned his thread on it. Took it as a “wink wink”
