Was just reading the SBT (Mike Berardino) recap of OC candidates article - Arroyo has great experience and background. He coached Herbert at OR when they had some great offenses. Just because he didn't make it at HC at UNLV, doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good OC at ND.

Yeah please not Denbrock. He was fine but he had his turn. We should be able to do better. Though I guess he and Freeman would’ve worked together at Cincy?

And yes Moorhead turning down Bama but being interested in Notre Dame would probably track for a Fordham-educated son of Pittsburgh who got just enough taste of the SEC to know it’s not his bag.

So basically he had 1 winning season in his career, a 13-0 season at UCF and thats what we should remember. I mean if you buy a homeless guy lunch then walk down the street and beat up an old lady, it does kinda take away from the lunch you bought the homeless dude.

I'm really, truly confused. We should NOT give a coach credit for going 13-0 simply because he battled personal demons at a subsequent stop?

The simple fact is UCF went 0-12 the year before Frost got there, and went 12-0 two years later. That's an absolutely incredible coaching job, whether he failed/was unprofessional at Nebraska subsequent to that point or not.

We dont live in a vacuum though. The issues that surfaced at Nebraska absolutely 100% are relevant and you cant pretend they didnt happen because you want to give him kudos for something he did like 5 years ago now. You cant just skip past the 5 most recent years of his life and coaching career because there was a time when he coached a team that had a good year.

100% relevant to what, though?

Impacting his next hire? Absolutely. Washing out his previous accomplishments? Of course not.

Also would have to think LSU matches any salary we may try to throw at him, no?
Unless they thought they could upgrade.
I’m not sure how Denbrock is viewed there, but I do know BK’s actual first choice for that job just went to work for Bama. LSU might decide to let Denbrock walk and answer with someone splashier.

IMHO, Frost would be an upgrade to TR.

Frost won 16 games at Nebraska in 5 seasons, just 10 conference games in the far weaker West B1G division. Tommy has two bowl wins and won at least 9 or more games each season as an OC. He also broke a Fiesta Bowl record and beat a few Top 10 teams. Thanks, but no thanks.

Would be interesting to know if we're telling potential OCs that they have to work with existing staff or if there's any wiggle room on guys.

I’m not sure but I thought there was talk at one point that Freeman sort of expected the new hires to commit to multiple years (probably barring a clear upgrade like a big time OC offer or something).
If that’s the case it’s be pretty crummy to toss them for a new OC.

Besides, Parker is probably the only one on the offensive staff who isn’t an A-level coach. And he’s Freeman’s guy right?

Pretty sure we the fans deserve more intel on these situations. Maybe even some say in choosing the next man in.

We especially need more videos from spring and fall. Where would they be without us?

Singer is saying that there is some positive buzz around Joe Moorhead.

If anyone remembers, Moorhead was quite interested in the position in 2019 and interviewed for it.

It’s too bad Kelly never found him on that nationwide search. I bet Joe would have loved an interview.

I hunted for a decent podcast (ND related) to listen to on my 45 min ride home. Nothing! I forgot to put the above in italics, haha

You’d think since it’s a big deal there’d be something. Nothing but crickets on the beat right now. Shameful? Or there’s just nothing?

The Shamrock, OFD, and IB all released Tommy/OC-related podcasts already.

Food deserts are a terrible problem in this country. Too many people don’t have access to fresh meats, fruits, or vegetables. Their only options for food are convenience stores and fast food restaurants.

Also buttercream frosting is the best.

I think it’s work with our guys. Chansi, Harry and Mcculogh aren’t going anywhere

I agree with these 3.

Does Harry care to work with almost an entire staff that he has no connection with? Does he get a shot to go to Bama in any capacity?

Also, if we assume these 3 are safe I think stlnd bring up another intruiging point. If you find your OC and he says hey I just have one guy I want to bring with me. From the outside Parker does seem to be the guy, but as mentioned, he is MF's guy.

Jalen Hurts YOY jump has been one of the most surprising I can remember. While he doesn’t have Mahomes talent, He makes the right read almost every damn time.

Brian Johnson would be a very solid choice IMO. Can’t imagine he’s a worse recruiter than Tommy either.

Gerad Parker would be Marcus’s BVG coordinator hire, and I’d love to avoid that if we could.
The problem is we almost have to get an OC who also has veritable experience coaching QBs, or we're going to have to hire an OC from within and seek out a decent QB Coach. If we have someone who's never coached QBs taking over the position we could possibly lose Minchey and/or Carr. The only other option would be to kick someone off staff.

I don’t see a problem with a GA being the defacto QB coach
