Odd move by Ludwig to sign a contract with an outrageously high buyout and then go looking for a new job in the span of a couple weeks.
His previous contract expired in January of 2022. Where is it being reported that he just signed his deal? From what I am hearing he has a rolling three year contract so his current contract would from ‘22 to ‘25.

If this plays out like the end of the Colts search, I’ll be pretty happy. As long as it isn’t an incumbent coach who doesn’t possess the requisite experience or success, I’ll be happy—even if it means running through a dozen different names.

OK, i am sick of this shit. Lets move on and start a new list. I wanted Klein, then Ludwig, and will want the next guy.

LETS GO:

Yurcich
Lindgren
Grimes/Streeter as QB
Kotelnicki/Streeter as QB
I don't think either of those guys have done OC/OL at the same time. As long as both Parker and Stuckey are on staff, we kind of need a QB/OC

I can 100% buy this.

Watching Klein do his press conferences, he does not come off as very personable.
Which is exactly why they put it out. It's the whole point of it. Because it's believable and allows them to save face.

Well, I'm not sure I'd categorize all those guys as candidates that they went through.

There was never any communication with Moorehead, so that's a choice by Freeman well within his control. Lewis was never brought on campus, also within their control. Brian Johnson was a very ambitious candidate so they always should've had other candidates at the ready. Leftwich seems like a waste of time. All of those decisions bring us to this spot.

So, I think you might be missing some of the point of my post. A lot of what has transpired is on Freeman for the process, the candidates, and the time invested to get here.

Where you feel like there is no time left and he must hire Parker. If Parker is ultimately hired, because as you put it, you have to have someone in place for stability. The road traveled to this spot is littered with bumps made by a rookie HC. Not an admin hell bent on being cheap.
They've all lost in recent years Kelly, Elko, numerous potential program changing recruits, and now Ludwig for various reasons due to being cheap.

What more evidence do you need?

They don't really care if they sell out all the games. They made that statement when the streak ended. The addition of the premium seating and boxes means they still come out ahead from a revenue standpoint.
They will if the number of empty seats continues to grow.

"Parker would do well because of his ability to utilize the talent around him, both from a player standpoint and with the coaches currently on staff. t’s a really talented staff and a talented roster"
What staff? The offensive staff is currently Parker, Stuckey, and McCullough. If Parker were OC, he would still have to hire half his staff.

You're pretty much proving the point. And, the program sustained success after the departures because they found other quality coaches.

Brian Kelly was insanely successful at ND with the admin being "cheap". When Kelly lost Elko, he hired Lea. Maybe Parker is Freeman's Lea, doubtful but we'll see. When Lea left, Kelly hired Freeman. Notre Dame never stopped Kelly from hiring quality coaches. Notre Dame is not stopping Freeman from doing the same. They might be stopping him from hiring one/singular quality coach but there are a lot of them out there. If we end up with Parker, it's because that's where Freeman's search landed. Not ND admins.

- Andy Ludwig's massive buyout changed on Feb. 1st of this year. I'm told it would have been well under $1M on January 31st, but he signed a new deal 14 days ago.

- The buyout is in the neighborhood of 2/3 of his remaining term. He was/is going to around $1.5M with his reworked deal per a source.

- Utah OL coach Jim Harding also has a buyout of at least $1M.

Per ISD, sounds like we got unbelievably fucked by the timing of Rees leaving for Bama.

So ND lost Rees to Alabama, got turned down by Klein, and decided it couldn't afford Ludwig?

If that is all true then put me in with the chicken littles.

So Ludwig basically signed a “I’m here till I retire” deal and then got a job offer a few days later haha. Maybe that meeting with Whittingham that no reporter wants to discuss was Ludwig seeing if Kyle still had that papers on his desk.

TIFWIW, per Sampson and II, Klein did not do well when he talked with the QB room. And someone said he bombed his interview, I forget where I saw that though.

Wonder if Ludwig was purposely withholding the buyout info until he got the offer from ND.
