I've read that it's a better version of the shamrock on the helmet.

That would have to be VERY well done for me to like it. I'm cool with tweaking the jerseys and all, but you start messing with my gold helmets and I start to worry.

Hmm, the ND FB equipment trainer said on Twitter that the uniforms wouldn't be changing this year. Must be the normal blue and away sets that will stay the same.

Sooo...do you think they come out with this alternate jersey that is supposedly going to be worn against Michigan, the weekend of the BG Game and at the unveiling of The Shirt?

And for the good Lord's sake, would it be too much to ask to have a little press conference, put Crist, Te'o, and Wood in the uniforms and have them take pictures out front of Touchdown Jesus and then throw a football around inside the Stadium?

I think that'd be a nice little evening of exposure rather than throwing a jersey on a mannequin and putting a helmet on a table.

I'm pretty pumped about the shamrock on the helmet and especially throwback uniforms (there best be old gold pants if we're wearing true 50's classics), but an "updated" version of the shamrock does worry me a little bit, just because I fear they'll try to make it 3D and throw the monogram in there and make it too busy.

Either way, being an uniform connoisseur...I love this stuff.

i love the idea. we, as fans, have a plethora of tradition surrounding the football program. why not throw a bone to these kids by outfitting them in uniforms that reflect their generation? if the players love it, then i'll survive the onslaught aimed at my visual sense.

go big or go home

The only alternate I like is the green should be worn maybe once a year other than that its good to modernize but we are nd for a reason

LOL.

Comments like this crack me up. What reason are we ND?

Wearing an updated version of uniforms the team has worn in the past.....isn't ND?

I'd like ND to stay with what we have currently but I can handle updates.

However, NO to putting ANYTHING on the helmets.

Just....no.

Keep the blues the same. I don't care too much for the whites anyways. Also no helmet shenanigans.

Always wanted one home game a year in greens and one away game with white and green (still gold pants/helmets naturally). Hopefully its something like that.

I don't have the time for this.

No, seriously. I am deeply interested in the outcome of your philisophical inquiry: How did the "Shamrock on the Helmet guy feels about the whole, shamrock on the helmet thing...? "

I think that someone should give this guy 25 vbucks for using the word "plethora" correctly, and sensibly. In fact, anyone that uses plethora correctly from here on out should automatically receive 25 vbucks . . . what do you say?

Now, on a more serious note, there are two kinds of people; those that don't ever want to let anything out of their asses (incorporative), and those that want to get everything out of their asses immediately, (expulsive).

How that translates to this conversation is do we stick to (what we think is) tradition, or do we try something new and off the wall (because we think it may be neat-o, cool)?

Me, I'm thinking somewhere in the middle; if I really go with tradition, I end up with a leather helmet; and I don't particularly want to see any Irish Ducks, (leave that to Nike). So, let's try some things, but not get too carried away. After all, there is a Nobel Prize awaiting some of you for your breakthroughs in medicine. What ya'all have the time and inclination to cure!

I could think of a PLETHORA of ways to use PLETHORA, if we are dealing out bucks for it ;)

My Dad told me that there is always something suspicious about New Jersey, so I'm glad we have a thread about it. You can't be too careful.

New Jersey, but for a few eyesore, is a lovely place. It is "The Garden State" after all. It's the home of ETS (Educational Testing Services), those wonderful folks who bring us the PSAT's, SAT's, LSAT's, GRE's, etc.

Some of my best friends in college were from Jersey. Don' fug wid Joizy!

As far as uniforms go, I'm not all that excited by New Jersey's, but I wouldn't mind New York's.

Being New York born and living in MN, I wouldn't mind some New York's New Delhi's ...

Of course Michigan fans are complaining because Brian Kelly revealed that they too are wearing throwbacks for the September 10th night game.

Here's a mind-numbingly dumb post from one of my favorite comedy boards, MGoBlog:

If this is true Brian Kelly is an ******* for letting the cat out of the bag. This is our uniform and our information to share. He's a complete ****.

Worse yet, he wouldn't reveal details about his own team's uniforms. If he was under NDA on this, and I assume he was, he could rightly be sued for devulging this information. Imagine if a supplier or partner of Apple shared details of what the Iphone 5 would look like prior to Apple's announcement.

Brian Kelly is a terrible person because he revealed what Michigan will be wearing in a football game? God forbid!
