“Alright team, the fans and the players/coaches are on our asses. They’ve done dozens of mockups on their own. They’ve put time and thought into the green jerseys. They’ve got ideas, but we’re the professionals. We are Under Armour. All cards are on the table, let’s really get the juices flowing, let’s synergize, get creative, and put out something that really defies perception of our abilities.”

I am just pissed that the AD with one foot out the door and a son high up at under armour felt it necessary to sign a 10 year contract with a company whose best days were 20 years ago

To be fair, jerseys in general are stupid expensive across all sports. At least with Notre Dame jerseys you don’t have to worry about the name on the back getting traded.

Merch/clothing in general is stupid these days, $75 for a "cheap" hoodie from either Nike or UA. $120-$180 for a "nice" hoodie. GTFOH

I'd rather buy a starter hoodie from Walmart and spray paint ND on it than pay $180 for a hoodie. You can buy a middle of the road smart phone for that much.

I’m glad he said it and glad Sam is looking out for his teammates.

But they get free shoes already so I’m not sure what was so exciting about this video?

I think it's more so the fact that Sam has a deal with UA. Not ND, but Sam himself.

I'd imagine that if Sam has a deal, it opens up opportunities for more deals down the road for other ND players.

Overall, not much in the grand scheme, but it's something. UA has less resources than Nike, but they aren't stretched as thin in the college landscape as Nike.

Exact thought I had. They get hooked up with gear all the time regardless of an NIL deal.
It’s not unlimited. They get a very specified amount of: cleats, running shoes, training gear, warm up gear etc. Anything extra that’s free to a college athlete is like Christmas to a 3 year old.

*I’m speaking from experience before the athletes should be employees crowd shows up.

Great marketing for big-time QB transfers. We may be back in the market for one at the end of the year.

Exactly. I'm pumped about Angelli's potential for taking over before CJ hits. But man... if we could land another elite vet next year... I don't think you turn them away.

The video did seem a little forced and contrived, but whatever. The message is heard loud and clear. Dude just got paid.

Here are the big takeaways from this video:

  • MF - "Part of my discussions with Jack when we started talking about Under Armor... I said, hey, take care of our players," which directly confirms MF talked to JS about the next apparel deal, so when he said "Hey, take care of our players,' that directly implies he thought the next deal should include more than just apparel and money for the university, and I think there's no doubt he was referring to NIL.
  • MF reinforced that last point because the next words out of his mouth were, "One of those things is they already did an NIL deal with Sam." He's saying out loud Under Armor is already doing what he asked for; they have an NIL deal with at least one ND player. Even though there is a little dancing around the subject, it seems obvious MF is saying these things out loud to make it clear to the players and to the public that Under Armor is willing to do deals with ND players.
  • The fact Sam has an NIL deal with UA a BFD. Is the UA deal one of the main reasons he came to ND? Would he have been able to keep that deal if Rees had been successful in poaching him to Bama, a Nike school? I doubt it, so I think his deal with UA was likely a factor in why he came here and why he didn't follow the OC who recruited him to ND.
