How positive are you that it was a lighter / cigarette hole?

I know that a family friend had damage done from toys being on the trampoline mat and the way the fibers are sewn, the damage resulted in little circles. Just asking.

The end of the holes are melted and burnt.
When I looked underneath, there is a waving pattern of melted material that didn’t burn through.
The holes are 4 inches in diameter.

I got some new info from the people that live behind the house that's south of me. Apparently the kid's always laying around the backyard smoking weed. It's been raining a lot here so maybe the punk decided to seek shelter under the trampoline and then got creative with his lighter? Will a trampoline shelter from some rain?

Reading this thread for the first time. That's about as creepy as it can get, Jimmy. I live in the 'burbs of Metro-Detroit in a pretty good neighborhood, but there are pockets of low-income housing apartments in the area, so some interesting characters arise every now and again. Most of the people I've come across are great, but there are some sketchy ones no doubt. Look/stare at you in funny ways, talk to themselves, etc.

My buddy works at Home Depot, and he loves to tell anyone/everyone to install affordable home cameras. He got them for me cheap, so I installed them. Why not, what can it hurt.

I also have a 55lb dog, a husky. She is nice as can be, but I try not to let her interact with any of my neighbors if I can help it. I would rather her be viewed as a "big dog" than a fury friend. I put up a couple of "beware of dog" signs as well, even though anyone who broke in would have nothing to worry about, she's a baby. Can't hurt to add the illusion of danger and perhaps make a potential intruder think twice.

Long story short, I have had zero issues in 2 years at my residence. I'm not one to stereotype, and actually love interacting with people, But I'm also not naive to the fact that there are POS people out there. Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to the people and things you love.

I bought the property and tore the house down. Lot is currently for sale if anyone's interested in paying double what it's worth.

UPDATE: I went to both neighbors and let them know about the vandalism that's been happening in my yard. It was more of a "just wanted you to know in case it happens to you too" then a accusation.

Neither seemed very interested to hear it.
I had to go to the creeper's house three times before he answered his door.
Honestly, I didn't get the "crazy vibe" from him. He just seems like a grumpy dude. Regardless, i'll never drop my guard around him.

I made sure to look the teenager in eyes when I was telling his parents about it.

I was considering slashing his tires and melting his tire stems with a propane torch just for shits and giggles, but quickly reconsidered. j/k

Good news is I haven't seen the creepy dude looking out his window since, so he's at least being more discreet about it.


I have two trail cams, but haven't set them up yet. The trampoline replacement mat arrived last night so i'll set it all up this weekend. Again, i'm not expecting much.
I'm really not looking forward to watching hours of dvr footage every day.

Before we go any further, we need to verify this post was actually done by Jimmy and not his creepy neighbor trying to give the impression everything is okay. A lot of murderers send a text or email using the deceased phone or email to give the impression they're still alive.

I had to go over there a few times before he answered the door.
He was very unfriendly, but I didn't get the "crazy killer vibe" from him and I was on high alert.
The guy seemed uninterested in what I had to say and clearly wanted me to go away.

The hairs didn't stand up on the back of my neck, but who knows?
Maybe he's planning my demise as I type this.
I'm aware of him and he knows i'm aware, so there's that.
Plus, i've told enough people that if I disappear, there will be a search next door.
