Kienholz blew up pretty late. He's from my hometown and I remember he had like NDSU, Wyoming, Minnesota and Washington in his top 5 the summer entering his senior year. He committed to Washington due to DeBoer being from South Dakota and then flipped to Ohio State pretty late.
Yeah if im remembering right there were salty NDSU fans trying to convince themselves that he got too big for his own britches when he committed to UW.

I was on here I think asking the ND staff to take a look at him. The other P5 schools already did the hard part... finding a good prospect in the middle of nowhere. Just make eyes at him and see if you can swoop....staff flipped Minchey instead.

I really tried to listen to IB today. I went out there and I gave it my best effort. Not happening though. Dont know how someone can listen to that for 3 hours every day.

I've heard rumors that Tommy was making calls to him late in his high school season before the flipped Minchey. I think I even posted on here about it.

I had already slowly been losing respect for the ND beat. The Sampson/Fortuna pod today might have done. The arrogance of Fortuna to basically claim that everyone at practice thought Minchey was better yet Marcus chose CJ for alternative reasons is mind boggling. Marcus is like any other coach in America. Couldn’t care less about recruiting rankings. Just who gives them the best shot to win.

Robby Toma replacing Mike Goolsby on Blue & Gold moving forward. Nothing ill-willed against Goolsby from B&G, but he's focusing more on Always Irish with the Kennedy guy and his own patreon page.

Listening to the Independent podcast with Fortuna and Sampson this morning. Fortuna making some bold claims. Saying he heard from “dozens” of people that Minchey was the better qb all camp. Outwardly questioning Freeman and staff saying he’s “not at ease” with the decision. Thinks the players aren’t happy with the decision. I found this to be a lot from a guy who lives in Chicago and hasn’t followed nd closely since the mid Kelly era. Apparently not much is required to be an expert these days

It was reported by some here that Minchey was the better QB at some practices. It was also reported that Carr really turned it on the last few days and got back to what he did in Spring ball.

None of the ND media has been even close to being right about basically anything. So I’m not buying it for a second that “the players aren’t happy with the decision”, especially when it’s coming from the least connected guy there is.

I know it’s Freeman that ultimately has to make the decision, but I find it hard to believe he would go against what his offensive staff would want.

Fortuna is also absolutely clueless about basically anything football, let alone ND football. I don't mind most of the characters on the beat, but as he is not on the beat anymore he should just go do something else and stop wasting his and everybody else's time. When he and Sampson get together it's like two black holes of pure depression colliding.

You thought Freeman went hard with this most recent debacle, just wait until he's notified that someone on the beat is suggesting there is discord amongst the ranks. "dozens" of people is a bold statement although he didn't indicate each of them was a primary source. Perhaps all the dozens heard from the same guy who started the Minchey hype?

It was ridiculous. Said he also heard Carr would have to have an "almost perfect jersey scrimmage" to win the job. I get frustrated by him acting as though he is plugged into the program.

I think he’s sowed more than enough derision to have his credentials pulled.

It is definitely important, but the more you read and listen, the core issue is performance in scrimmage and interception tally are being conflated as exactly same thing. Not a single reporter as articulated anything other than interceptions thrown about the sourcing they are hearing on the scrimmages.

Not a single place are we hearing Minchey was good in the scrimmage, he stretched the field or avoided pressures or ran the option perfectly. It’s strictly he threw less interceptions than Carr. Which accounts for what? 5% of the passes thrown? An important but not equal measure.
