I've consumed as much ND content as anyone in the past 10 years and I've listened to ND podcasts/youtube channels less than a handful of times.

They all suck in long verbal form.
I find several podcasts worth listening to. Irish Illustrated is good (I don't see why Prister and O'Malley are given a bad rap above) and has gotten better with Brice. My others are Locked on Irish, ISD and the Independent, all three for various reasons. The others aren't worth your while imo.

This is why I'm glad we have Brice, now. That guy knows more about football than any of them. He's better at picking out details of play and highlighting their importance and he's not reticent to criticize. He's better at giving us the context of ND in the national landscape, in that he has sources outside of ND football that he leans on, in addition to those he's cultivated since he's writing *for* ND, as well. This is hard to describe, but I think he does a good job of acting like an SEC beat writer on the ND beat.

Prister and O'Malley know ND history better, of course, but Prister is not cut out for social media interaction and O'Malley just wants to play chuckle fuck a lot of the time. I like Sampson and his long form stuff in The Athletic, but, I look elsewhere for game analysis.

Anyone can speak in generalities about ND being a blueblood and always having a seat at the table, etc, etc. I want to know what a guy/team does on the field that makes him/them good, compared to what other guys/teams do that make them not as good. Brice is great at that.
This reflects my feeling as well. Brice brings in a national perspective but w/ an ND focus. His time in the SEC gives him gravitas & he’s got good sources w/in the industry.

Pete is a solid storyteller & he’s not annoying to listen to like Mike Frank or Driskel. When my dad started subscribing to BGI in the 80s, I remember when Sampson was they young guy they brought in so I’ve relied on his coverage along w/ Prister for years.

O’Malley is a bit of a chuckle fuck but I’m ok with that. He’s a good yin to Prister’s yang.

With the addition of Brice (& a soon to be announced recruiting reporter), BGI is far & away my favorite source.

Brice’s best inputs are always when he’s talking shit about SEC coaches players or fans. He wasted doing practice reactions and such

I've seen some short snippets of Brice... He's good.

Pete's good as a quick after game commentary.

Tim & Tim sound good in quick bursts.

If I was to build a pod team that I'd listen to an hour straight it would be Paul Burmeister hosting with Jamie, Brice and my favorite guy, Brian Smith.

If it was talking big picture ND athletic dept like sitting down with Father Bob or AD Pete, I'd go with Sampson.

Id love to see Driskell’s reaction when Smith drops f bombs on his podcast

They actually announced it on Saturday already

Hopefully this is ok to quote, since it's a public address (Mods can delete if an issue): Quoting Prister 247 Post:

Eric Thomas is a lifelong Fighting Irish supporter and a 2019 Notre Dame alumnus. During his time in South Bend, Eric studied Political Science and History while working for the Notre Dame Football recruiting office from February of 2017 until graduation two years later. Over the course of his tenure in the Gug, Eric worked directly with defensive coordinator Clark Lea, defensive backs coach Todd Lyght and running backs coach Autry Denson.

Since graduating from Notre Dame, Eric has been all over the East Coast in sales and talent recruiting roles, living in multiple locations across Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida. During that time, he was contributing audio and written content for Notre Dame Football Stats and Analytics and working for the Dartmouth Football recruiting office on a volunteer basis.

He assisted Lea, Lyght & Denson in recruiting???

I take it he’ll be handling all the 3* and under recruits for II. No italics.
assisted Lyght and Denson lol, the two worst recruiters in ND football history? Not sure i'd want that on my resume

Maybe he "assisted" them in that those two did literally nothing and it was up to some kid to try and get whatever he could find.

Hey it’s not Eric’s fault that Lyght pooped his pants in Thomas Graham’s living room.

I find O'Malley incredibly condescending on the II podcast. Always making sarcastic statements mocking 'silly ND fan points of view'. Seriously off-putting.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one

Its especially amusing coming from O'Malley who is basically just a professional Fan Boy that's not any different than the fans he's talking down to when you boil it all down

The II podcast is funny too because so many of their subscribers ask them o/u prop lines and they just always reflexively take the under

TM: Next question is from Statman 500, Over/under--Riley Leonard will pass for over 500 yards this season if healthy the whole year?

TP: 500 yards? For the season? Oh man, no way. I mean we're talking over 45 yards per game. O'Malley back me up here. When's the last time a ND quarterback throw for over 45 yards per game? I mean you're talking going back to Jimmy Clausen or maybe Quinn. That's just, well that's just not realistic.

TM: Yeah, I'm sure Mike Denbrock and Marcus Freeman would love it if Riley Leonard threw for 500 yards this season but I mean c'mon. Leonard throws for 500 yards you're talking--I mean he would probably win the Heisman and ND would be in the national championship game. I just don't see either of those as a possibility. Like I said, it'd be great but I'm just not seeing it. Pete?

PS: Umm yeah, I'll probably have to go with the under here too. Could I imagine a world where Leonard throws for 45 yards per game? I suppose, he will be going up against a couple really bad defenses this year. But if the ND defense is playing well like we think they will and with the recent clock rule changes, I'm just not sure how many opportunities he's going to get.

I like O'Malley a lot, he has a sense of humor and wit about Irish football history that I enjoy. I don't get the condescending vibes at all. He pokes fun at message board banter, because, well...

Prister has decent hosting skills but digs his heels in way too often on issues and that gets boring and way too petty. But you'll sometimes get a flaming hot take that gets intertwined with him digging his heels in and that can be entertaining, to be fair.

Sampson does a good job as the quasi-national level guy these days.

I've found Brice just okay. He seems way too over the top in his praise for most things ND and with his background I think I'd enjoy a little bit more of the opposite.

Prister was way too bullish on his Jordan Clark hate. It’s one thing to not like a kid’s tape, but he kept shitting on him time after time.

I’m glad Clark has impressed and Prister is eating major crow.

This is pretty much my take as well. I actually like the II pod better when JB isn't on there so often. He is good to be on every now and then, but the chemistry between TO, TP, and Pete is part of what makes that podcast so entertaining.

He stopped just short of saying he fucking hated that kid. I guess he used up that energy on Daniel Anderson.

My take:
-JB knows his stuff and he’s a great eye on the national game. He’s also one of the first to break a scoop relating to hires and program developments
-Prister is a no-nonsense guy and I don’t mind if he gets ornery. I also admire him sticking to his guns even if I don’t agree with them
-O’Malley will give up the goods on his insights into the program and I like his sense of humor/references to past ND seasons
-Sampson isn’t really my cup of tea and I think he overreacts a bit to small sample sizes. Still a good read and he’s a good follow on the socials
-Jamie U is the best talent eval on the beat and he is fun on podcasts.
-Mike Frank can be an Eeyore but he’s alright in my book
-Other ISD guys are solid worth good info typically. Greg Flammang rubs me the wrong way so I’m glad Matt and Christian are the recruit-facing guys there

JB needs to stop talking like he's giving a report on Channel 5. The other three guys sound like they're grabbing a beer after watching practice, JB sounds like he's trying to dictate a memo.

JB "You know what Tim? This is what we've been hearing from Coach Freeman throughout his tenure. The team is going to be built on the offensive and defensive lines. I think that is bearing out thus far in the spring. The drive and passion is very clear. That is why, I believe, that Rocco Spindler is competing hard."
