I feel like we always go through these emotions right before a season starts, but it's usually after a lot of offseason drama, like the Frozen Five. This season we really don't have much to be upset about going in. Ya'll should be happy, dammit!Way too much extraneous BS going on for opening week. It’s football season lads. Finally.
Listening to Sampson/Fortuna's new podcast "The Independent". Few minutes in Fortuna mentions WF's WRs were "significantly better' than NDs are.
Is that true? Were any drafted or expected to be high drafts in future? I was impressed with them but I only watched Clemson game.
The freaks list is dumb AF i think. Its just content for the sake of it. Mazi Smith was a dude high on the list year and hes getting wrecked in preseason by nobodies. It means so very littlePretty cool they had Bruce Feldman on to discuss Freaks list. Interesting JD Price was on the radar, and was expected to possibly be the #1 back last year before injury.

ESQ Clothing jumped ship from sponsoring Mike Frank to backing Sampson and Fortuna's podcast LOL
I've never listened to a Driskel podcast, or read a word he's written. I have zero opinion of him, good or bad.You didn't know price was expected to start prior to injury?
I know Driskell has a lot of pods but sounds like you're listening to his episodes back in spring 2022 lol

AT Perry was good, but I believe he went undrafted.
Fortuna sucks. I’m sure he failed to mention that Notre Dame’s defense, OL, and running backs are significantly better than what Hartman had at WF. His “so many question marks” comment in the intro was dumb as well. I can think of 2, maybe 3, question marks on this team.
Thanks for posting these reviews. Obviously Matt hasn't changed. I won't waste my time. Pete really shouldn't do a podcast with an anchor tied around his waist. The Independent is a tough listen 20 mins in. It's like listening to an experienced Sommelier of 20 years work with a guy who likes wine for the hops.

A Sampson/Jamie U/Hansen podcast would cover all the bases I think. The long form big picture guy in Sampson, nuts and bolts guy with Jamie, and the ability to bring some humor/balance with Hansen. Dream ND blunt rotation.even a Sampson - Golic Jr podcast would have been better. Fortuna isn't even going to the Navy game. Like whats the point of him?
Look as we've brought up before, if Pete is throwing a bone to Fortuna's new thing here, it makes sense that Fortuna couldn't justify the expense of going to Navy.even a Sampson - Golic Jr podcast would have been better. Fortuna isn't even going to the Navy game. Like whats the point of him?

Yeah...but...WE WANT MORE!!The best podcast rotation I could come up with already exists because it's IrishIllustrated's podcast. I enjoy Tim Prister acting as the elder statesman of the local ND beat, Sampson as the emotionally uninvested but well-informed reporter, and Tim OMalley as the straight shooter/funny one who's willing to let his fandom show a bit more. Genuinely great chemistry because you can tell they like talking with each other, always feels like a tight hour, and all three are decent/good orators. 9/10, the only way to improve would be to do it in person like they used to.
Yeah, it's always my first in the rotation at the beginning of the week. It's a must listen. I think the Hansen/James one is pretty good too as they don't have the emotional rollercoaster that ISD (negatively with Chicken Little Michael) or IB (positively - ND could have 4/5 first round picks in the 2023 NFL draft (Patterson/Hart/Mayer/Foskey/Joseph) per Drizzy. The best podcast rotation I could come up with already exists because it's IrishIllustrated's podcast. Nope. My one complaint about ISD. 90% of his ratings are better than composite, and he'll never say a player isn't good enough. He's an 8-4 kind of guy. It makes Mike critical because he'll actually say he doesn't understand an offer, or acknowledge a position isn't going to cut it.Speaking of ISD, I like Jamie but has he ever not liked a player that commit to ND? I haven't listened to the ISD podcast all that long, but I can't recall a single player that he hasn't liked.
man's too canadian to be critical of anyoneSpeaking of ISD, I like Jamie but has he ever not liked a player that commit to ND? I haven't listened to the ISD podcast all that long, but I can't recall a single player that he hasn't liked.
I agree. Now they’re mixing in John Brice who brings an interesting POV as well. What separates them from the others, for me; is that they’re pretty buttoned up and are less prone to ramble. The best podcast rotation I could come up with already exists because it's IrishIllustrated's podcast. He has not been overly glowing about Kennedy Urlacher. It's subtle in the way he takes digs at his game, but you can definitely tell a differenceSpeaking of ISD, I like Jamie but has he ever not liked a player that commit to ND? Barring major changes, I think that he can make a very nice contribution on Special Teams; blow up blocker, deliver a hit, change of momentum stuff. He just like me fr
