Anyone else think Matt Freeman is just really passive aggressive, cynical, and pessimistic?

Podcasts aren't always his best medium, IMO. He's got a very laid back personality. Greg and Mike are the colour commentary guys while Jaime and Matt are the analysts.

Matt does excellent work on ISD's multimedia (those clips of ND commits games are amazing), he does really great articles, and he's got some very solid sources in recruiting and in the Gug.

FWIW, I've met him in person a couple times and he's a very nice guy, but I can see how his personalty on PH doesn't work for everyone.

I don't usually complain about broadcast crews. It's a tough job. Especially when you're not familiar with the team.
But those guys were annoying as hell with their endless questioning of our schedule and playoff chances and "Notre Dame doesn't play in a conference so they need to beat Ga. Tech by 30 to prove they're legit." At one point they even questioned if an 11-1 Notre Dame gets left out of the playoffs.
No, we don't. Even if we'd only beaten Ga. Tech by 7 instead of pummeling them for three quarters, we make it at 11-1.

I thought the exact same thing……..their rehashing of the CFP chances over and over and over and over…….was ridiculous.

I remember playing drinking games with Dick Vital saying “baby”. I felt you’d be more hammered for the word playoff in this game. ESPN is nauseating.

ESPN just wanted to make sure that every random channel surfer knows the exact percentage of the team’s chances.

Prister said the 12th game next year could be a current top 7 team. Miami is already on...any guesses?

I looked at everyone's schedules on fbschedules and Miami is the only 1 in the top 7 without 12 on the schedule for next year. But as you said, ND is one of those 11.

I don't anticipate it being either Texas or Ohio State since they play each other already

my guess was Tennessee

John Brice has a lot of connections at Tennessee so I thought that too, but they already have 12 games scheduled. They could easily buy out ETSU or UAB or NM State but I was looking for a team with a hole in their schedule. Side note: they do play Syracuse in Week 1 down in Atlanta.

The schedule next year is pretty tough sledding as is. Is adding another top 7 team necessary? Absolutely great home slate for us season ticket holders next year though.

A&M at home
Arkansas on the road
top group of 5 Boise at home
Rival USC at home
Two of top ACC teams this year on the road with Miami and Pitt

Each of the top 7 teams have full nonconference schedules so I'm assuming whoever it is dropping one. I'll guess Penn State, as well, though Tennessee would be very fun.

Just got done with a OSU home & home, Texas and UGA not too long ago, and I have a hard time believing Oregon would agree to schedule an additional game in the midwest, nor would ND be seeking out that tough a road game to an already tough slate.

I listened to what he said, & he said it was, “only a wild rumor,” & “it’s such a wild rumor I shouldn’t have even talked about it.”

Then they all agreed Stanford made the most sense, but couldn’t figure out why that wasn’t done yet if they were going to do it.

Growing up in the mid 80's/early 90's I remember thinking ND and PSU would play every year. Then it stopped and I was bummed.

In PA everyone is either an ND or PSU fan (random Pitt fans hate both, but neither fan base thinks about Pitt at all). I would love a PSU/ND series to come back purely for the unfriendly banter with everyone I know.

I don’t think James Franklin wants any part of that.
Look at their scheduling since he got there. Don’t know if it’s still the case, but a couple years ago their 5 year aggregate of OOC games was the worst in all P5.
Franklin has his niche, play two hard games a season, lose both, win the others & go 10-2 and keep his job.

I know they aren’t top 7 right now, but LSU currently has an open date for 2025. That would be my favorite scenario. They also already have Clemson on their non-conference schedule so I doubt they would even consider scheduling another school with a pulse but still top of my wish list!

I’d like to venture down south more for recruiting and exposure. Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss and so forth.

I like the Arkansas matchup next year.

SEC seems to have a de facto scheduling law of only one good out of conference opponent each year. One FCS gimme and two crappy FBS teams to fill it out.

Sampson fueling the fire to the wild rumor with his comment in today’s article about the playoffs?

“Although LSU could face Texas A&M first in the SEC Championship Game if both programs win out. So Kelly back to Notre Dame might have to wait another season.

This reads like he's saying LSU vs ND likely won't be possible until next season's playoffs.
