Is there a NCAA mole in the Seattle area? I swear I read the same exact thing in UF's recruiting penalties... let me see if I can find it.

Death penalty. And vacate all wins from 2017 - 2020.

EDIT: yeah and I guess Washington snitched on everyone? I know Petersen used to get quite territorial and Jimmy Lake is one of the dirtiest recruiters in the books... so if it's Lake that snitched on something this laughably minor then he better watch his back...

Sampson said per sources it’s the same recruit as A&M and Florida. The recruit cited for them is, per sources in a old Athletic article, Smalls

I just hope we do not overreact to this nothing burger. The NCAA is a joke. UNC can offer fake classes and receive no punishment, but take a picture all hell breaks loose. Weak

Kinda makes sense if it was UW recruit. UW trying to lockdown the state, their coaches ratted on us anyway they could. Kennedy Catholic looks loaded with talent.

I thought the rumor was it was the high school coach trying to push him to Washington and he ratted other schools out to the NCAA?

Udub is playing a dangerous game, if they planted the mole...

I would not want to break a status quo in recruiting...They're going to have to watch their backs...

Knocking out 3 HCs at the statute of Kelly, Mullen and Jimbo definitely a pretty loud shot, whoever fired it

Ratted out is one thing, but "declined to take a picture, but later relented" screams of a set-up imo

On October 18, 2019, the head football coach had an impermissible off-campus recruiting contact with a 2021 football prospective student-athlete at his high school in Pickerington, Ohio, before July 1,following the completion of his junior year in high school. Specifically, while visiting Pickerington during the fall football evaluation period, the head football coach was being escorted through the high school's cafeteria when the football prospective student-athlete recognized the head football coach and requested a photo with him. The head football coach initially declined, but ultimately allowed the photo.

Lorenzo Styles most likely

Kennedy Catholic is absolutely a Washington feeder, so this makes sense. And it that makes more sense than someone like Jimmy Lake snitching because that man has some serious skeletons in his closet.

It is a weird power move for a HS coach to snitch on something this incredibly minor. There is significant potential for blowback and burning bridges for your players. But if his goals are all local then I could see some sort of rationalizing.

Was just thinking that it seems like a very strange penalty to impose on a college that they are not permitted to recruit out of a high school for a number of years. Seems like that would hurt the high school players more than the college.

I think there are two separate instances, and the photo one is Lorenzo Styles and not any kind of set up. Just something that happened that shouldn't be a violation but it is because the NCAA is dumb.

Yeah. I'm not going to pretend to know how everything works, but I do coach in a conference that produces a bunch of 5-star/national recruit types every single year in football, basketball, etc.... and my school has multiple of these types of players (particularly in basketball). I just can't conceive of a scenario where a coach would be inclined to go out of their way to report something immaterial, because there are direct and indirect consequences. The direct consequence is exposure for you and your school, like what happened with the recruiting ban. The indirect consequence is that college coaches around the country would go "Wow, can you believe that guy? I'm not sure if I want to recruit his players anymore." There'd be a risk/reward calculation about sending an assistant coach to recruit anyone from that school and you could never trust the coach.

That's because they allowed non-athletes to enroll in some of those classes (I wish this was sarcasm).

Also, fine they had fake classes/majors but non-athletes can take them so NCAA doesn't do anything. Whatever. How were they even able to keep their accreditations is what's more appalling.
