BK wishes ND to relax the admission requirements, to easy up on the Campus rules, and also win titles.

Should Brian Kelly go route for OSU or Alabama?

You don't think we can get someone better than one of those 3 guys?

Off the top of my head, we could possibly get:

Charlie Strong
Gary Patterson
Various former NFL coaches or current assistants.

Aiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeee!! Decided Schematic Advantage Flashback!!

Some people show love for their team in a different way.

No, I'm obviously not an "ND MAN" in that regard.

I'm hard on the team and when they win it all, I'll sit back and crack a beer and relax...finally.

BCS win or Championship.

Like I told you before. If that is what you expect than you are going to have a miserable life and be a consistent negative force on this board. You literally would have been pissed the majority of the last decade with pretty much any team in football. Here is the percentage of seasons that BCS games and Titles were won in the last decade by the power house programs:

Bama - 30%
LSU - 40%
Florida - 40%
Ohio St - 40%
Michigan - 20%
Florida St - 20%

But tell us again why it's rational to believe that we should be 60-80% better than the elite teams in college football in order to meet your low expectations for our team.

Kelly could take ROUTE 80 East to go ROOT for OSU or ROUTE 31 South to go ROOT for Alabama or he could take the easy route and root in front of his TV.

Hopefully ND's Admission's Department will hold the line and keep ND student athletes from posting like fans.

I understand your perspective, but I'm more on BK's side. I think ND's old school ways need to evolve and meet BK somewhere in the middle, or he'll pack his bags and we'll have a scarecrow standing in front of any elite coach that might be interested in taking the ND job.

Sit back and relax until the next decommitment or (in your mind) unnecessary close game, or God forbid a loss. Then of course relaxation time is over.

What is it like setting unrealistic expectations and never sitting back, cracking a beer happy watching Notre Dame? Why do it to yourself?

I'm glad you find "meaning" from any posters on a fanboard.

Again, I get it. I just don't care as much as I do about winning...at this point.

I used to. I used to think it was noble and we're doing things differently...ND has it's own set of misfits and problems.

Like everyother fanbase, we make excuses for them (well, she isn't telling the truth...or he did what the coaches asked him to do so we let him play after his 3rd offense....) When they are ALL THE SAME.

Just win, baby. IrishPat is done holding these young men to being "ND GUYS".

Pat, people would respect your opinion more if you didn't say stupid sh*t like this. You're so far off base here. There are dozens of examples I could give you, but here are two crystal clear ones that illustrate why you're talking out of your ***:

1. Everett Golson. UNC, Oklahoma State, Missouri, etc. all have documented cases of academic fraud to keep players eligible. Institutionalized academic fraud for the sake of the football program. Not just for star players, for all players. They literally break rules and falsify grades and things like that to keep players eligible. At ND? We kick our star QB out of school for academic misconduct. So on one hand you have institutions actively cheating FOR their students, and at ND you have the institution kicking a key player out of school entirely for failing to adhere to academic standards.

2. Drug suspensions. Kyle McLarney, etc. have been kicked out of school for a semester (or asked kindly to transfer) for drug violations. At schools like Florida, LSU, Oklahoma State, etc. kids not only get light or no punishment until the Nth failed test, sometimes the results are actively covered up by coaches or administrators.

So please, start using your brain prior to posting. This is all common knowledge.

I don't think anyone here would generally side with the administration against BK. Everything he's asked for thus far seems to be reasonable and consonant with ND's mission. Many of us don't want to see ND debase itself in search of grid-iron glory, but we're nowhere close to that. If anything, ND's administration is still making things far harder for Kelly than they need to be.

Cut the crap! How many more years are you going to post this BS! Each year you post it and each year somebody wastes their time explaining it to you.

The average ND student was in the Top 5% of their HS graduating class and has an SAT of 1350 on a 1600 basis.

What is the point of admitting anyone with an 8th grade reading and math level?

Seriously, they flunk out before the first semester is over. How difficult is that to grasp?

ND did make accommodations for Lynch, Prestwood, and Sheperd. They all had academic issues. Refresh me how those turned out?

There are others that people aren't aware of as the school doesn't report academic struggles. ND has made accommodations at least through the Holtz years when President Malloy tightened up on admissions and academics as did President Hesburgh in the 50's and 60's, and Cavanaugh did after Rockne.

ND isn't a land grant college that takes everybody from PS 12 and then flunks 50% of them out the first year and "hides" the athletes it wants to keep eligible.

ND expects everyone, 100% of those that they accept, will graduate in 4 years with a meaningful degree not with a hodgepodge of courses in Aids Awareness, Music Appreciation, Golf, and Ballroom Dancing.

I'm not telling Irishpat to get a life, though.

And I've been here longer than buster.

Nor was I. He should not care so much if only a BCS win is considered an acceptable season. IE won't give you a stroke, getting repeatedly butthurt because Notre Dame isn't the New England Patriots will. Find some other things to do in your life.

Even the Patriots haven't won a title since the 2004 season.

But you haven't learned a damn thing about ND or football in the time you been here, have you?

There's an axiom, God gave you two ears and one mouth, use them in that proportion.

Read more, post less.

Your continual whines about Longo, Bryant, academics have a common demoninator ... you knew nothing about the topics but made post, after post, after post about them.

When did I say ND should admit cavemen? Academics is only one area that can be put under a microscope.

Res life, stadium accessories/turf, some traditions, academics, etc., are all areas that can updated to give the head coach a better chance to win.

You seem way more fired up about this than I am. Don't exhaust your efforts on me, I think you should take your argument to Brian Kelly and the admin.

I made no claims about Bryant transferring. Please, point to one.

I asked a question about S/C coaches and how they are reviewed. Look at the thread, the '?' is in the title.

Brian Kelly wants academics to loosen up. I also believe there needs to be some compromise. Sue us.

This is another case of a tenured poster trying to suffocate another poster for no reason. Just like your uncalled for neg-rep of Palinurus the other day.

When did I offend you? Yet you constantly take shots at my intelligence, which I would wager against yours any day.

We have a different opinion on things. GET OVER IT.
