Purdue's Matt Haarms is GTing out.

I cringe watching him play but he's 7-3, a 10 & 5 guy playing half the game. Throw in a couple of blocks and 4-5 more adjusted shots and he's still cringe-worthy but...

He's 7-3.

Demetrius Jackson yammed all over him. No thx.

Edit: Nevermind I guess that's a different Purdue big man with an H last name.

Haarms is a stiff. But you have a center now (Durham) playing 15 minutes a game and no viable back up so we need to get someone.

David DeJulius (PG) transferring from Fvck Michigan.

This guy is good and a shock to Fvck Michigan fans on the news.

I think he may go with Seton Hall to try and get a waiver because his family lives in Jersey. Otherwise UCLA would be my bet. Don't think he wants to be in a small town.

Any chances we take Haarms from Purdue?

I'd be surprised if it was a fit on both sides. He's probably trying to go to a place where he gets more minutes. Don't think ND is that place. And ND has more important needs as well.

Haarms is so bad. Yes would it be nice to have a 7 foot guy in the middle clogging the lane yes but he is also slow as hell and ppl go around him with ease.

I’d rather go with a smaller lineup with laz as the center and just play small. It’s worked for us many times.

And it would seem like Brey thinks this as well. Durham at C and when he needs to come out we'll put in a smaller more perimeter oriented lineup.

Lol.... he’s not great, but he’s not bad at 10 & 5 per. He blocks a lot of shots and alters a lot more. He alters a lot more and plays with energy. I’d take him.

Haas is the guy that got dunked on.

Lol ya I remember haas. I mean would I take him yea but I like when we go small ball cause it will work for us if we are making shots. I’d expect us to hit shots from the outside from the 1-4 position next year. Hopefully that is lol

Never hurts to have a kid like him when they opposing team has a big body or the shots aren't dropping from the outside.

Read the article in The Athletic. Apparently this caught Painter by surprise.

three Cb's on 247 for Trey Wertz to ND.

Looks like Wertz was offered out of high school by Harvard and Yale.

Trey Wertz freshman year highlights. I thought I read somewhere that Wertz is a better defender than he is on offense. His highlights look good and he's averaged double digits in both seasons at Santa Clara. When he's eligible to play, we will have great depth at guard: Hubb, Goodwin, Ryan, Wertz, Sanders, Konieczny, and maybe Carmody.

Would be a really good pickup. No chance he's immediately eligible?

I believe the NCAA is reviewing immediate eligibility on all transfers for next season. So, there's a chance. Either way, this would be a huge win for ND. Getting Sanders and Wertz would be a small miracle for ND's roster considering where everyone thought it was one month ago.

In fact, it might be even better if he keeps the year of eligibility because then he'd have that last year (5th year) once Hubb has graduated.

This is kinda what I was wondering. If he does get immediate eligibility, does he use it? I'm sure he'd want to, but that creates a pretty big log-jam at the 2-3.

He played some 1 at Santa Clara so maybe that’d be an option. However, I’m pretty high on Hubb over the next 2 years.

Good deal. Anytime I see combo guard, I just assume they are a 2 that can dribble a tiny bit :0)

Well, guess I have plenty of time to watch some of his games on YouTube.

In general Brey would have unconventional depth but could make things interesting with 3 guard lineups and some deadly outside shooting. Wertz was 40% from 3, this last season.

Hard to imagine him not playing right away if he's eligible. Kids want to play, not sit, and its not like he needs a year to develop his game.

All the chatter I've seen indicates the transfer once without penalty rule will pass. Between the "coaches move around without penalty" argument and the indefensible inconsistency in granting waivers the NCAA has dug itself in a hole on this one.

If we get him, and that's obviously a big if, he'll play.

I watch 3 abbreviated games of theirs (one VS Gonzaga) and a bunch of game highlights.

Obvious small sample size, but if he's actually 6'5", he is a really versatile player.

Santa Clara likes to switch everything. In the Gonzaga game, there were multiple possessions he got stuck on Tillie in the post (which, even post players had a hard time defending). He got beat up on these isolations, but I'm not exactly going to hold that against him considering it was a potential 1st team all-american with 6 inches on him.

He looks explosive with the ball as well, and can finish around the rim (is really crafty, saw multiple of what Goodwin does with the sneaky inside hand finish). Automatically becomes our best slasher.

Bit of a low release on his jumper, but like you said, shot over 40% from 3, so eh.

As someone said above, he'd give us the ability to play 3 guards and not give up a bunch of size or quickness (didn't see much from him vertically, but was pretty quick).

Fear this causes some frustration, as we now have a large log jam at the 2-3. I'm guessing he plays the Gibbs role, mostly off the ball, but handles when Hubb is out.

OKC Thunder fan here, to me he sounds like a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with the height, defense, and being a slasher. Any chance Brey goes to a similar three guard lineup?
