Nice zinger. Too bad it’s not original nor accurate, just like all of Irish Insight’s content.

Hey internet tough guy. Looks like MF[SUP]2[/SUP] had everyone in the dark on this hire. We get it. You don't like Arrowryan. Get over it or start providing your own recruiting news and let's see how well you do.

Don’t know how I’m being an Internet tough guy. I legit have no issue with the poster Arrowryan. What I have an issue with is his associated blog, Irish Insight, attempting to announce rumors as facts as way to be able to say “you heard it here first”. Me providing no news is better than providing false news.

Look, if any other ~1400 follower social medial account out there announced something like this, this board would treat it with skepticism. I’m not saying small accounts are not credible and should be ignored, But since it’s run by one of Irish Envy’s own, everyone gives it a pass. Had he posted it outside of the safe confines of Irish envy, like on Reddit or something, there would have been a much more overall skeptic and dismissing response.

In retrospect it’s not about about being wrong, but how wrong he was about it. Announcing it before interviews even took place. And in no way has this looked like it’s was a deal nixed at the last minute. This all could of been avoided by posting “Irish Insight is hearing Shepard is the leading candidate”, but instead he went full force saying that “He WILL be named” the WR coach. And the whole “sorry guys my source was wrong” is a weak cover.

Have I been smug? Yes but so was he in his responses to his doubters:

It’s okay. People said similar things when we beat the Big Js to the punch regarding Marcus Freeman.
He jumped the gun once, and was right. He did it again and it fell on his face.

You’ve changed your tune. You originally said it’s BS and claiming we use other premium info as our own. Now you’re saying we’ll probably be right.

Progress, I guess.

Twisting the arguments of a poster who was rightfully skeptical.

I get it, Arrowryan has been here a while, and posts a lot more than me. All that IrishEnvy brotherhood schtict it’s fine to look out for each other. But to me, this goes right down with Epitome’s constant “hearing news” threads from 10 years ago. Go back and read those, they were hilarious. There, I was a real asshole and got my only warning/infraction on this site (surprisingly there haven’t been more lol).

By all accounts Reese essentially made the hire. Freeman signed off on it but he has been inclined to give Reese what he wants in terms of the offensive staff.

I don’t care if we’re first or not lol.

We’re not Sampson, Loy, Prister, etc. We have to DIG for the smallest inside info we/I get. I wish I could just shoot someone a text that works in the Gug to get info. I thought my source was good. It clearly wasn’t. If I knew that, I obviously wouldn’t have said anything.

Regarding Freeman, those sources were legit. Whether you choose to believe me, that’s on you.

We’ll be better from this. I’m sure I wasn’t the first Notre Dame best writer to provide info that ended up not being true.

I like Ryan, but philly clearly smoked him here and he needs to hold the L. He announced something as fact when it wasn't to get clout, got called on it, admitted that he was doing it early based on less than solid sources to beat real journalists to the punch to get views, still got a pass for some reason, and then turned out to be wrong. Bad look for him and his site, basically a perfect outcome for philly, and EXCELLENT drama for the board. 10/10.

I kept quiet on it but I was also told by someone who knows Shepard well that he was getting the job.

I’m hold the L high.

We’ll be back though. Next time will just require more digging.

I trust Arrow to hold the L. Still respect him. Don't blame him for trying to get out in front of it when promoting his podcast team. Shit happens.

I do think we should be excited for Stuckey though. With how quickly this is getting out after he was just on campus yesterday means that he must have hit an absolute grand slam in the interview process and been really, really impressive. I'm excited to see what he can do on the trail because that is pretty much 95% of his job especially right now.

I actually like this hire. You can't go wrong with a coach who played the position at the highest level and also was a QB. He is young and I think will have a lot of success on the recruiting trail.

I will also admit I crossed a line when i made up a new tier 6: dogshit posting.

But i know its become a meme in this thread, but that really is how European Football reporting works on reddit. It'll be like 'Chelsea RB linked to dortmund'... "Who reported that?... Ah the London Daily? There teir 3 at best ill wait until i hear it from the times who are Tier 1 and reputable".

Best part of it, is that they all consider ESPN as Tier 5 shitposting when it comes to football transfers.

Chansi Stuckey has a connection to John McNulty? Anyone have any insight on what that connection is?

To be clear, this post isn't talking about Brian Hartline, who played in the NFL a couple years more than ND's new WR coach did.

Quite the male soap opera. I need to learn to be patient and just wait for things to happen rather than worry about the gossip.

Here's a compilation of stuff on Stuckey :

1. He blew Freeman, Rees, and Swarbrick away during his interview. I've been fooled by hiring awesome interviewers before, so this isn't the end all be all. But it's not nothing either. It is evidence of his personality, salesmanship, and charisma, if nothing else.

2. He came extremely highly recommended. Dabo is almost certainly one of the recommendations, but supposedly there are many more and they are influential people. I'm assuming we will learn who they are at some point. Some were on the NFL level it seems.

3. He played football at Clemson where Dabo converted him to a WR from a QB. There is an article out there about this switch and his time at Clemson. He then played 5 or 6 years in the NFL. That experience goes a long way in recruiting WRs.

4. He spent several years in Hollywood. Someone said he did investment work with celebrities, also seems like he got into acting a little. This is speculation, but it doesn't hurt to have celebrity and west coast connections.

5. He has connections in the south and Texas.

6. Baylor 247 guys say this is a "massive loss" for them.

I am excited about the hire. Shephard would have been great I'm sure. But I think Stuckey is a different kind of dude. I'm pretty sure it was an old interview with Dabo where he said Stuckey is brilliant and will be a superstar at whatever he ends up doing.

This is where I agree with GHs follow up tbh. Yes you did try to be first “Trying to break news gets our name out there”. You said a similar thing around MFs hire. There was a clear value on being publicly the first one here. That’s fine, if you were right that’d be a nice 2/2 but part of what I guess were calling “holding the L” is admitting you very much wanted to be first.

Honestly I was a little disappointed in the hire considering names that were thrown out there. Then I changed my tune a bit, if this guy nailed the interview with a potential elite recruiter like Freeman then this guy can be excellent in a recruits living room.

My guess on one of the “recommendations” people have hinted at is it’s going to be Brady Quinn or Hartline somehow.

you never heard of him as a player?...honest, i didn't know he was coaching but most who have watched college football for quite some time know who he is

I mean, he’s not a legend like Mike Mickens was but certainly was a big name:wink:

Have to admit, I’m not excited about this hire. He might end up being a great addition and an excellent developer/recruiter, but I feel like this was more like hitting a single rather than a home run or even a double. I stand fully hopeful I’m proven wrong.

Because this is the internet, and everyone's reading comprehension is "tier 6," you definitely gotta change that name bro. Can't afford a post mixup based on bad name recognition.

Personally, I like this hire. Free Manera hit the bullet points. Lets rock n roll.
