Sorry would a guy like this be the head S&C coach or assistant? DB would pound Longo's face into his "beach."

Just realize any time you bring such sought after information to the board, when no one else has dick, you may stir up some things that have nothing to do with yourself personally.

He would be the assistant.

ISD reporting that ND is looking at 3 candidates. Steen from Stanford, Bails from UCONN, and Ballou from IMG. They wouldn't be opposed to hiring all three, but not likely to happen. They currently think Bails leads due to experience. Steen was thought to be the leader, but not any longer. Tommy Z may be coming back as an analyst and as a strength coach. Flint and Grimes would stay with the program as they're well respected and well liked. ND realizes they have fallen so far behind in this category, and they're looking to right the ship so to speak.

Ballou just needs to sign. Dont think its a matter of 'looking' anymore.

Hiring any staff member from IMG would be a great move IMO. I know S&C coaches aren't tied to recruiting at all really but I'm sure having DB at ND would have a few benefits related to IMG, especially if the kids at IMG really like him. I wonder what DB would bring to the table outside of S&C? Longo served as an assistant in other ways as well.

Ballou was only at IMG for a couple of years. Spent most of his years at Avon, so this whole 'recruiting/connections to IMG' is being overplayed. Highly doubtful he would have much of an impact on recruiting, if any. Really good dude, but as far as going out and building relationships with recruits....no, just no.

He was a linebackers coach at Avon, and spent a couple of years as the DC there....but his main focus was SnC there. Id assume the same will hold true at ND.
