Out or reassigned?

If he's reassigned it would be to analyst job which is the same thing as "out" as far as fans should be concerned. As an analyst he wouldn't have much player contact and would certainly not be involved with S&C. Yeah he would still be getting a paycheck, but as a fan who gives a shit about that.

This is not a home run, this is a GRAND SLAM!

I was hard on him a few weeks back, but after talking to people here and others....I'm excited.

Let's please go the Bama route and hire so many former HCs who are great coordinators and analysts please.

I am curious if Polian will be strictly SP Teams or if he will split with another position coach like he did with his last stint here

Did a quick look at Stanford's special teams rankings for 2010 and 2011 when he was ST coordinator there. They ranked 20th in Special Teams Efficiency in 2011, and 33rd in 2010.

He was also recruiting coordinator there in 2011 when they brought in the 22 ranked class.

Info from here: FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2011 FEI RATINGS, SPECIAL TEAMS

He was an excellent recruiter when he was here. I believe he basically lived in Hawaii when recruiting Manti.

hasn't been confirmed...but he isn't coaching the line so likely hitting the streets...

Is there any word on whether Elko is brining Cohen? The Wake message boards are worried about losing him, and then recruits. Based purely on that he seems like he would be a nice addition. However he may get the DC job now.

You mean to tell me, we got a real DC in Elko, got rid of Longo and Booker, are signing a REAL ST coach who actually recruits, and lost the most under-utilized asset in CFB (Sanford)?

Holy shit folks, ND got it right this off season....

Brian Polian: 'In recruiting, you can out-work people' - FootballScoop

King recalls that Notre Dame sent Polian, the team’s special teams coordinator, on the nearly-5,000 mile one-way trip every Thursday afternoon so that Polian could see Te’o play in person every Friday night. Once his recruiting duties were done, Polian would then jet from Hawaii to South Bend or wherever the Fighting Irish happened to be playing that Saturday, as King puts it, “sometimes making it in time for the game, sometimes missing the game.”

Only allowed nine asst. coaches so OC would be combination of Denbrock/Quinn/Kelly. Elko usually coaches safeties.

***On the next strength coach

believes it will be from within

JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE UNDER LONGO DOESN'T MEAN THEY BELIEVED IN HIM OR PHILOSOPHIES

Not sexy, but I'm OK with it. 1) It's not Longo, 2) I think the staff has had JUST the right amount of turnover... Kick too many out, and it might work in the long run, but 2017 will be a mess. I think they nailed the 'percent turnover', if you will, and have hired some damn promising coaches.

I'm happy. Let's get drunk and be somebody.
