I hate to get involved with this thread, because it is truly terrible. But I just wanted to point out that, amazingly, this has been true for over sixty years, but after tomorrow it won't be anymore. Kinda crazy.

I was thinking about this today. I have this feeling that Carolina wont pick Cam. I think that they know that they need a lot more than a QB. Any interest in a friendly 100 vbuck bet? or maybe for a vbeer?

Agree with Rhode Irish that thread is truly terrible. The worst thing about it being that someone could call a bunch of terrific athletes from Notre Dame who gave it hel.l for us for their careers as people who "suck". The arrogance of criticizing an NFL athlete is boggling enough. When one adds name-calling Notre Damers on top of it ...

My brother who was a great lineman at VT always told me to calm down when hearing some of that sort of crap. He said most of those people have "never taken a snap" and aren't worth your energy. Still, the gall of it to put down great Notre Dame players of the past ....

Yeah, I'll do a vBeer. It is a win/win for me. I really hope Cam doesn't go #1. Not only do I dislike Cam, but I honestly think it will be a terrible pick for Carolina. Not that I like Carolina, but I don't dislike them. I don't want to see them set back years when there are impact defensive players available that they could really use. (Plus, I want to see Jimmy get a chance there. I still think he can be an NFL QB.)

All those guys suck... I see Fasano all the time and he's nothing special...
Like i said before,we may send quantity but not quality...

WTF??? Those guys suck??? The TE's??? Stop looking at stats only and watch the game, look at their offenses and their QBs, and read what the coaches say about their players. Fasano was a beast and like YOU (and Wooly) pointed out, he had a very good year. He absolutely is a difference maker.

And as for Carlson, Pete Carroll LOVES Carlson. Carlson, in the old offense, was asked to block a lot. That's not his fault and you shouldn't hold that against him. And he had a good year this year despite missing a game and having an absolutely AWFUL QB for much of the year. Look at his numbers with Hasselbeck in the line-up...he was waaayyyy better.

Look dude, when you come on a ND site and say that ND players who are doing well in the NFL 'suck' and they aren't difference makers, well, you sound like a (bleeping) troll and of course people are going to come at you. Choose your words better and you'll be fine.

And one more thing...we're forgetting Jeff Friggin' Faine! 1st rounder, Pro Bowler, starter for TB, and when he got hurt this year, the offense wasn't the same.

Also, John Sullivan, starting center for the Minnesota Vikings for several years now. Forget his awful senior year at ND when he wasn't being coached - he's had a very solid pro career and when you are the center for a line who got Adrian Peterson a rushing title - you definitely are a difference-maker.

And Clausen and JJ Jansen were starters last year as well.

My feelings exactly. The ND fan in me wants them to take a left field pick and choose AJ Green. Having AJ Green and Steve Smith with good RB's... that would be a good situation for Jimmy.

You're on! :bbanana:

NDinLA - Well said, dude.

Still praying Carolina sees the light. Or that Scam Newton gets both vacated. But I guess life just kinda disappoints you sometimes.

This thread is pointless. ND has three more players drafted than SC since '37. Had more first rounders than SC 'till 2000. Since SC pulled even, SC has had 14, ND 2, (Faine and Quinn). Forget about sanctions, it's player development and the cult of the personality. The former is self explanitory, the latter is kind of like putting all of your eggs in one basket until you forget about what is important. When is the last time an incoming freshman like Aaron Lynch has to work as hard in the weight room as a Bruce Heggie, or Andrew Nuss? Don't kid yourself. The days of preferred treatment seem to be over. Much more like my Marine Corps . . .

Oh and "KissMe", the quote you may be looking for is, "It is much better to be going down the drain than coming up through it."

Agree and disagree:

It sure is easy for the good old "armchair quarterbacks" of the world to criticize players and say how bad they are, but they really do have a right to do so, especially if the guy is at the professional level. Saying a guy "sucks" is obviously not the correct avenue to do this, and although the ramblings of an angry Joe Schmo who didn't even play pee wee football don't mean much, he still has a point.

Professional athletes work extremely hard and sacrifice quite a bit to have/keep their jobs, but their job is one that requires great responsibility to the many, many people that support them. The "armchair QBs" spend thousands of dollars on tickets, merchandise, etc, and plan their entire weekends around the big game, so I think the people who pay these guys salaries are allowed to be critical of what's happening, as long as they don't look like immature brats (he sucks, what a disgrace, etc) in the process.

I have the utmost respect for collegiate and professional athletes, but to me they are not infallible, and at times I will rightfully question certain players work ethic, performance, etc. They are not "Superman in a helmet," they are other men, just like us, so of course they will make mistakes, but it is within our rights to call them out when needed, for we are the people the team represents.

Obviously I didn't start this thread to have this crap in it, of people (one poster) say ND players "suck" in the NFL.
So, just close the thread. It WAS an interesting fact that I thought I'd share but it turned into a terrible thread.

And with a total of 9-1 in favor of USC, they took it from us.

I have no freaking clue how they had 9 people drafted from that awful team. 9 NFL caliber players and you put up a season like that? Get real. All of these teams picking for "upside" just ticks me off with Darrin and Ian not getting drafted.

I actually find a positive in this USC 9 draftees thing. That many of those rolls-royce "coasters" must indicate that very little discipline nor team orientation is going on there. It also means to me that it's not likely to stop, as these "shadetree" players just got rewarded for screwing around, and their similar mates still on the team know it. Why bust your a.ss if it doesn't make any difference after you say so long USC?? There's a smile on my face about this.

Yeah getting hit then hiring Kiffen was a win/win for us... also, you have to figure WITH kiffen it'll be hard to fill those spots, not so much from a pure talent aspect, but from an leadership aspect with the coaching.
