I'm not sure the Clippers can even afford PG unless they trade Deandre and/or let Blake walk, right? That plus Chris Paul is most likely signing a massive extension with the team that will be an anchor dragging the Clippers down into the depths of NBA mediocrity, just as they deserve.

I am curious how "the logo" - Jerry West - will do working for the Clippers. It could make the LA market rather interesting.

Snap I did forget about that. Never mind, Clippers will be good again

Just spit balling, but I can see Jerry making a real run at getting Lebron and building his own super team.

I'm sure that's the plan. Lebron to the Clippers would be 100x more awesome than the Lakers.

The more I think about it, Dan Gilbert isn't going to do a 1-year rental with PG. Dan and Lebron are proud people and not best friends. Remember Dan's email? He is not going want it to look like the Cavs are in complete shambles because Lebron leaves. If they get PG, they've put all of their chips in, and Lebron and George will leave nothing in Cleveland.

It'll always be remembered that Gilbert was nothing without Lebron, and Lebron left with the last laugh. That might be reality anyway, but Gilbert will not want it to go down that way.

Having Kyrie + Love or Kyrie + Butler is a lot better than just having Kyrie in the post-Lebron era.

I'll give you about 6 billion reasons why that isn't accurate.

Businessman just wants to stop paying luxury taxes now that they've won one championship....I'd guess that's why he and GM Griffin decided to part ways. They're multi-year repeat offenders of going over the cap, and the penalties get outrageous the more consecutive years you go over the cap.

From what I'm hearing, the Lakers may be getting a little nervous and may make a traded instead of waiting to get him next year. They're afraid he may land some place else and decides he likes it. Hearing Clippers are getting involved which may be why Lakers getting nervous.

Are you saying Gilbert wants to get out of the Luxury tax, and Griffin does not and wants to go full throttle ahead? I know nothing about Gilbert/Griffin's differences, or what each one wants to do.

Being the businessman he is, Gilbert will gladly go over the tax when a title is a possibility. That possibility ends with Lebron leaving, so no more tax if he does.

Now being reported the trade may not happen. Getting a little crazy. Best thing for the Pacers is to do something before the draft or shortly after, where they have an agreement with a team who will draft and send their pick to the Pacers for George.

The radio was blowing up this morning over Patrick Beverly "following" the Pacers account on twitter. They were speculating Houston is an unnamed dark horse for PG.

*they also discussed how a PB and Lance backcourt would be the craziest tandem in NBA history

I really don't care who goes where, but I'd rather the few stars in the East (PG, Butler, whoever else) not go to the West. The Western playoffs are at least entertaining, and if healthy, San Antonio had a shot. The Eastern conference playoffs are unwatchable, and if PG13/Butler head West, it gets even worse.

Someone please make a surprise move and make the East interesting, at least in the Eastern finals. Ainge is likely our only hope.

You know... I hadn't even thought of that. Good point.

Houston came into the mix yesterday as a possibility. I can't see Lance staying much longer now that Bird is gone. He was the only one who could keep him reigned in.

Why don't guys like CP3/Gordon Hayward consider going to the East where they would be guaranteed Eastern conference finals if they teamed up? CP3 has to be at the age where he wants a title (probably has been for a while).

I guess joining the Spurs you can argue would give him a shot, but with Manu likely retiring, Patty Mills leaving, and Tony Parker coming off of one of the most severe basketball injuries, I don't think they're going to be the same. Neither of those guys by themselves are huge losses, but all together they are.

Edit: Heat. With Bosh coming off, they have some money to spend.

I personally don't think CP3 is worth his price tag anymore. He gets hurt quite a bit, and strings together some real stinkers each week he plays.

Hayward isn't a max guy IMO. He's in that tier with PG and others who are a great sidekick on a good team, but not the alpha.

IMO, taking age, injury considerations, and everything into account, these are the top 20 current players:

Tier 1 (the franchise):

LBJ
WB
Harden
Durant
Kawhi
Curry
AD (injury concerns, but a nightmare when suited up)

Tier 2 (facilitators and sidekicks):

Wall
Kyrie
CP3
ABC
Butler
PG
Hayward
Boogie

Tier 3 ("glue" guys good for occasional explosions):

Derozan
Thompson
IT
Lowry
Lillard

* that's off the top of my head, sure I missed a guy or two. I purposely omitted Griffin and Porzo because of their durability concerns.

Waiting list would definitely have KAT

I think Giannis is going to be unreal.

I can't believe Westbrook, Durant, and Harden all played together for a few years... That's mind blowing.

Good list, but IMO LeBron is on a tier by himself.

Phil Jackson is considering trading Porzingis. That's the Knicks only good player. Maybe the Kevin Pritchard can get Jackson to trade Porzingis for George straight up! lol

Supposedly Boston is making a run at Hayward.

Spurs losing Ginobli isn't going to hurt. I watched him a couple of times this year and he has little gas left in the tank. As long as the Spurs have Leonard they'll be very competitive.
