2014 Highlights - Robert Washington highlights
Robert Washington will narrow his list to six in the next few weeks.
The 5-foot-10, 215-pound Washington has already said North Carolina, Syracuse and TCU will make the cut.
Yesterday, Washington received an offer from Alabama.
”I spoke with coach (Nick) Saban and he offered me,” Washington said. “He’s a great man and a great coach and it was just an honor to speak with him.
”I grew up a fan of Alabama – watching guys like Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry – and to get an offer from them was just great.”
He was able to speak with Saban in-depth.
”He told me that I was big, fast and strong,” Washington said. “He also told me I was a back that really fits their system. We also talked about academics and he said he wanted me to visit soon. It’s definitely an offer I have to consider and I’m going to try to get there before I make a decision.”
Washington’s most recent visit was to TCU.
”It was my third time there and it was amazing,” he said. “Coach (Gary) Patterson and (running backs) coach (Curtis) Luper are great men. Coach Patterson actually spent about an hour with me before the junior day started, which really meant a lot.
”Coach Luper was also telling me that they need running backs. He also talked about how he’s coached guys like Tre Mason and Michael Dyer.”
Along with a possible trip to Alabama, Washington said he may visit Florida State in the near future.
Besides the three aforementioned schools who will make his top six, Washington said he’s also been in consistent contact with Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan lately.
He plans to make his commitment sometime in April.
Some schools are starting to back off on him. I recall Ohio State and North Carolina have backed off recruiting him
Ryan C'mon dude really? I guess that's why Nick Saban and Alabama offered him today.
Ohio State has a 2016 RB commit and Coach Tony Alford spoke with him yesterday so I guess that's call cooling off? Coach Fedora was at his school personally last eval period and Gunter Brewer spoke with his Coach on friday about him going to the Dook game on March 7. Don't mislead these readers like UNC is cooling on him.
I don't know where you get your intel from but the only thing you have ever reported on this kid has been negative information. Don't make the obvious so obvious. The kid has a lot of options and just released a top 3 of UNC, Syracuse and TCU so schools not making his list would cool because he has cooled on them.
Bartow didn't start off his 247 career to hot with ND fans but he's been spot on a lot more than some random 247 poster. Washington is working with an early commitment timeframe and it makes total sense that OSU would "cool" on him. It doesn't mean there isn't contact but would they be willing to accept his spring commitment, I bet not. They have Walker and want McCall.

Interesting recruitment here as it sounds like a lot of schools have backed off him, especially with him wanting to commit so early. Apparently UNC, OSU, and ND were some of those schools.
I would assume that if that's true and I have no reason not to believe it, then ND and other schools feel much better about other players and needs for the roster. He would be a "filler" late in the cycle for ND, UNC, etc.?
Bartow stated back in Feb. that a lot of schools backed off on him and didn't really think we would. I was never really that high on him but I'm also not on Jones either.
Do we plan to take two backs this class?

This will be interesting moving forward. Tony Jones Sr seems convinced ND is done at RB this cycle. He has stated so more than once. He even led on that Jr wasn't going to take visits and shop around because ND wasn't shopping around. Should be fun to watch moving forward.
I'll say this way ahead of time...watch Auburn here if we bring in another RB. Just a rumor but something to watch.
just committed to Florida
