Wednesday marks the annual Signing Day festivities for the class of 2017 and Irish247 is your place for the latest Notre Dame Fighting Irish recruiting news.

Notre Dame has 18 commits, but is looking to add three or four more before all is said and done.

Names to know...

Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove four-star cornerback Russ Yeast is committed to Louisville, but will he have a last second change of heart? Notre Dame remains very much in play. He is expected to announce his decision early Wednesday morning, so we should know soon whether it will be the Cardinals or Irish.

Kapolei (Hawaii) high school four-star defensive end Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa is looking at Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Washington and USC. As Irish247 previously reported, we feel good about him picking the Fighting Irish during his Signing Day ceremony, which occurs around 11 a.m. ET.

Hampton (Va.) Bethel three-star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will make a decision during a ceremony at his school at 2 p.m. ET. The finalists are Notre Dame and Michigan State. We expect him to be Irish Wednesday afternoon.

Washington (DC) St. John's College four-star defensive end Kofi Wardlow has narrowed his recruitment to Maryland, the school he is committed to, Notre Dame, PIttsburgh and Virginia Tech. Despite reports saying otherwise, we feel strongly that he'll ink with the Fighting Irish during his 2 p.m. ET Signing Day ceremony at his high school.

What are you bringing to Notre Dame?

Irish247 reached out to the class of 2017 commits to find out what they are bringing to Notre Dame when they ink with the Fighting Irish on Wednesday.

Four-star LB David Adams: "I'm coming to Notre Dame and giving relentless effort on the field, in the gym, and in the classroom. I'm more than a football player though. I'm a good person who will affect as many people in a good way as he can."

Four-star WR Jafar Armstrong: "What I'm bringing to Notre Dame is a great work ethic and attitude."

Four-star OL Joshua Lugg: "I'm going to bring a great attitude to every workout, practice, and film and make the most of every opportunity to get better personally, as well as make the team as a whole better."

Four-star TE Cole Kmet: "As a student-athlete, I will bring my best everyday in whatever I do and will come ready to compete."

Four-star DT Darnell Ewell: "I'm bringing a new prodigy on and off the field"

Three-star LB Drew White: "I bring my high motor, aggressiveness and leadership, but most importantly I want to contribute anyway I can. And I want to WIN!"

Three-star DE Jonathon MacCollister: "I'm bringing hard work and dedication."

Three-star DT Kurt Hinish: "I will be bringing a style of old-school, blue collar football and a hard working attitude in the classroom."

Three-star WR Michael Young: "As a Notre Dame student-athlete I will be bringing the value of hard work and dedication and the attitude of wanting to be the best on and off the field."

Tw0-star K Jonathan Doerer: "I'm bringing a big leg that can help impact the field game early on and eventually work on to field goals, maybe even punts."

News and notes...

Four-star OL Joshua Lugg says he'll sign with Notre Dame at "7 a.m. sharp."

The next Tyler Eifert

The next Alize Jones you mean. AJ's the next Eifert. And I have a feeling neither will be Eifert. Eifert was Shark with muscles. Pure receiver. I'm hoping this year's TE haul coan be like former Irish TE... Greg Olsen.

Really? I thought he really improved his blocking over the years at ND. Especially his senior year.

Signing Day Superlatives

Signing Day Superlatives

With Notre Dame’s 2017 class sending in its letters of intent today, Irish247 put in our picks at various categories for the class. They range from instant impact to future fan favorite to future captain.

Here are the picks from Irish247 analyst Evan Sharpley

Class MVP: Joshua Lugg

Lugg did more to improve his stock over the course of his senior year than any other Irish recruit. The 6-7, 295-pounder is part of a talented group of offensive linemen earmarked by coach Harry Hiestand.

Most likely to be a fan favorite: CJ Holmes

Holmes has been an outspoken advocate on social media. Following a couple decommitments from Irish prospects, Holmes took to Twitter to voice his opinion, quickly winning over the Notre Dame fan base.

First to score a touchdown: Michael Young

Do yourself a favor and watch Young’s film, if you have no already, or go rewatch if you have. The young man could be special in an Irish uniform, and should excel in Chip Long’s offense. He gets the nod as the first from the 2017 class to score a touchdown, although Brock Wright may be a close second.

Most likely to be a two year captain: Brock Wright

Wright, the early enrollee, is a steady hand, and getting to campus early will only help solidify his role as a leader of the Irish football team down the road. Hard working, high character individual that does things the (w)right way.

Hardest hitter: David Adams

Adams is the prototypical phone booth linebacker. What he may lack in pure lateral athleticism, he makes up with explosive power. Don’t let him get under your pads, or he will light you up. Bonecruncher.

Most upside: Cole Kmet

Several players were candidates, but Kmet, for all the talent he currently possesses, has a high ceiling. Could easily develop into a hybrid option at tight end like Ty Eifert did not too long ago. Great pass catcher, and route runner that is just scraping the surface.

First in line at training table: Dillan Gibbons

Gibbons is no slouch in the competitive eating department, although he surely will have much more competition now. The 310-pounder will have to butt heads with Aaron Banks, all of 315-pounds, and current Irish players like Quenton Nelson.

First off the bus: Darnell Ewell

Ewell is a beast, plain and simple. Physically developed for his age, and ready to compete with guys a couple years in the Irish program. Super intimidating presence.

Fastest player: Michael Young

The 2017 class does not possess elite track speed, however, Young is a menace with the ball in his hands, has great vision, and is tough to tackle in space. Young has flown under the radar, but is set to do damage in an Irish uniform.

Most exciting film: CJ Holmes

Holmes was used in a variety of ways, making his film a fun watch. He played running back, lined up in the slot, motioned out of the backfield, and made plays on special teams. The early enrollee will benefit from a the jumpstart of being on campus and practicing in the spring. Could pay dividends early in his career.

Earliest impact: Brock Wright

Wright steps on campus ready to play. Physical strength to compete as an inline blocker only helps his cause, and enrolling early will give him the chance to work with Long and learn the offense without the pressures of fall camp and preparing for the season. Could be a third option alongside Alize Jones and Durham Smythe.

Most NFL potential: Aaron Banks

6-7, 315-pounds. Need I say more? Elite measurables that will develop under Hiestand into a legit NFL prospect.

Sleeper: Drew White

Tremendous mental makeup and super hard working young man. Sneaky speed that always seems to put him around the ball. Downhill, slasher that could be a perfect fit in Mike Elko’s 4-2-5 defense as a BUCK or ROVER.

Most likely to outperform ranking: Michael Young

The composite three-star wide out from Louisiana may end up being the most productive offensive player in this class. Holmes will give him a run for his money, but it’s evident he has the tools to excel in South Bend, contributing early on.

Best position group: Robert Hainsey, Aaron Banks, Joshua Lugg, Dillan Gibbons

All hail Hiestand. Strong offensive lineman class once again. Hiestand follows up a class that included Liam Eichenberg, Tommy Kraemer, and Parker Boudreaux with Hainsey, Banks, Lugg, and Gibbons. Another stellar haul.

Sorry, I didn't mean Pure receiver as in Only a receiver. More like his receiving skills, hands, route running, high pointing were receiver quality. Yes he got better. He even chips a guy from time to time on Sunday's before running into the endzone and catching 6.

For some reason Ewell was the the one I was a little nervous about since he committed fairly early. Glad he's in.

UND's signing day coverage is just so meh...

I'll tell you what though... great listening to Autry Denson talk to guys on the phone relative to some other coaches. Completely different vibe. Need more guys like him on the staff, but I bet they're hard to find. Hope Denson continues to develop as a coach because I think he has some star potential.

If he has the work ethic of his uncle, Joseph Addai.. He will be a player

Yeah I saw that yesterday even if it's by marriage, still a good thing to have grown up with someone to look up to like that for most of your life.

It is boring. It's been the same format for years.

Eifert could drop in line and block if needed to I don't think Jones can do that. He is just a big athletic Wr.
