35 year old wife had never seen Waterworld.
Her mind was blown last night. Laughed very hard when the girl took her dress off and Kevin Costner was like "you have nothin I need."

Don't know your definition of old school, but Maltese Falcon with Bogart is excellent. Mulholland Falls, Cape Fear with De Niro and Nolte. Enemy of the State with Hackman and Will Smith.

Not sure how old is old school but some of my favorites are Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco and Bronx Tale. You can’t go wrong with The Godfather I and II, both are quite good (and long).

Has she seen The Bodyguard? Costner still tears up over that piece.

Waterworld tanked by most metrics, so if she liked that hopefully she would like the Bodyguard a lot more. Decent movie, a little melodramatic at times, but it's surprising to hear the challenges they had making it. Whitney Houston couldn't do it at first due to touring, and the studio wanted to move on with another actress. Costner put his foot down and talked them into waiting a year to make it. Houston herself wasn't sure she wanted to do it either, she was afraid of failing like Madonna's attempt to cross over into movies. Costner had to convince her too. The song "'l'll Always Love You" wasn't the first choice either, they were going to go with "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted, " but it had been used in a movie the year before and Costner thought it wouldn't have as much impact so they did the Dolly Parton cover instead. Going acapella at the beginning was also a Costner suggestion. The movie was panned by critics, but it did well in the box office. The soundtrack was legendary and smashed several records.

If she liked Bodyguard, which sucked, then hell, look at showing some all timers like Bloodsport or Highlander!

You should have included Commando.

Goodfellas rules.
For a lighter Mob movie, "My Blue Heaven"

Just watched The Gorge. It was worth a watch. Anya Taylor Joy remains my favorite actress.
My wife is watching this right now. I'm sorta listening and following along while I surf. Joy is definitely interesting.

She's an incredible actress, very versatile. Really good at selecting roles: The VVitch, The Norsemen, The Menu, and Last Night in Soho are all classics.

Halfway through Ricky Stanicky on Prime. It looked funny but so far has been a letdown.

Anora. Movie about a Brooklyn sex worker who gets involved with the son of a Russian oligarch. Really enjoyed it but I have some issues with the writing. The movie couldn't seem to decide if she was a naive romantic or a savvy professional. Could be rated anywhere from a 7-9 for me. I think I might end up giving it the 9 because it made me feel suprisingly strong emotions at the end.

I've seen several of his films and this director has a genuine gift for having multiple people yelling at the same time and making it feel stressful or funny depending on his goal.

Just finished it. Didn't get much better. Apparently it's a Farrelly brothers movie. Probably their worst one. Cena was the highlight if I had to pick one. There's some funny moments and a few funny dick jokes but overall it was pretty meh.

Damn...my neighbor had got me pumped for it, thought it was gonna be really funny just based on the premise and the fact they got Cena on board.

That probably makes it a no for me. Nothing i find less enjoyable than movies or shows with a bunch of yelling or people yelling at the same time. How is that enjoyable? Uncut gems was the worst for this reason.

Just watched The Blob with Steve McQueen. Classic 50’s Sci-Fi.

Also watched the remake of The Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nimoy and Jeff Goldbloom. Kevin McCarthy makes a cameo, but it’s not nearly as good as the original with Kevin McCarthy.

"The Fall Guy." It's an enjoyable popcorn movie with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt doing a great job being movie stars. It has almost nothing to do with the early 80s Lee Majors series it's based on, though. It doesn't hurt the movie, but it could have been its own thing. Basing it on the TV show did nothing for the movie. I actually watched the first couple of seasons of the show recently and it's some fun nostalgia.

Rambo popped up on Samsung TV this weekend so I decided to watch since I hadn't seen it in ages. Still holds up. The 2nd Rambo movie played right after, so I left it on and then the third.
