I watched Flight Risk this weekend. All in all not a good movie, but as I saw somebody describe it, it wasn't bad for a "fuck it, it's January, this is what you get" movie. I would say it is fine to go see if you have literally nothing to do, and definitely not a waste of money.

That being said, Mark Wahlberg was so right when he said, regarding 9/11, ""If I was on that plane, it wouldn't have went down like it did."
My son saw it w/ some buddies on Friday & echoed your sentiment. Sounds like something to catch when it’s streaming.

Thank you-horrible. I have nothing good to say about this. Watched with my kids and had to buy it On Demand. Have not watched a second of it since.
It was underwhelming on the first watch. I think It's been so long since the first episode, that we wanted the same perfect movie.
I watched Gladiator II, 3 times now, and after the 2nd time It was a great movie that needed to be seen after rewatching Gladiator I
I see It on the same path as if there was a Forrest Gump II.
I would recommend watching the first, and then re-watching the new. You might see something inherently diplomatic.

Just got done with a Prime movie. Unstoppable. True story about a wrestler with 1 leg.
Highly recommended.

It's definitely not artsy. It's a true story of the human struggle. Art the way art should be.

I watched the '80s classic The Outsiders tonight. I know we say this every time her name comes up, but Diane Lane was just some kind of seriously good looking. I didn't know until tonight, but her mom was a playmate back in the late '50s. Sort of an unusual movie with a graphic novel sort of vibe. Amazing how many soon-to-be famous people are in it, plus several cameos. RHCP bassist Flea has a small part, as well as Nicolas Cage and Melanie Griffith. A young Sofia Coppola has a bit part too, but when your dad's the director, that's no surprise.

Watched the original Mad Max. Like most oldish movies, it hasn’t aged well in my opinion.

Watched "Your Cordially Invited" on Prime with Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon. Cameo by Peyton Manning. Feel like Ferrell mailed this one in. It's getting a 5.5/10 which is where I would rate it. The clips during the credits might be the best part. The good new is Reese is still looking good at 48.

That whole cast is nuts in the Outsiders. You already mentioned a few, but you've got Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Ralph Macchio, C Thomas Howell to a lesser degree, Leif Garrett, Tom Waits, Melanie Griffith. Obviously not all had big parts, but most of those were unknowns at the time and would end up with moderate to huge success at some point after the movie.

A bunch of those would wind up in Red Dawn too.

Damn, talk about a blast from the past. In 7th grade we read the book as a group in English class before watching the movie. Over 30 years ago…I’ll need to rewatch soon.

On a related note, I saw Step Brothers before I saw Outsiders, so I had no idea the line "Stay gold, Ponyboy" was a reference until I saw the latter

Hard to believe, but SE Hinton was only 16 when she wrote The Outsiders, and not much older than that when she wrote Rumble Fish. She had a cameo in The Outsiders as the nurse that's taking care of Matt Dillon's character when he's in the hospital after the school fire. I didn't know any of this until yesterday when I looked up a bunch of stuff about the movie.

I actually WAS a nerd in many ways. I was the football player who was a bookwormish nerd but could get a date.
I was a book worm, stay at home after games athlete too honestly, friends with all the popular crowd but never hung out with them outside of school hours for whatever reason. Turns out to be a blessing, idk if things would have worked out otherwise,… I was kind of Emilio’s character in Breakfast Club minus the crazy abusive father I guess.

I agree. He’s been on a bad streak. Holmes & Watson may be the worst movie I’ve ever seen & I love Will Ferrell.

The Contractor on Prime with Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Keifer Sutherland. It gets a 5/10, but I thought it was decent. Former Seals work as military contractors, but their mission goes sideways and everyone wants them dead.

I think your story and mine are a lot more realistic and common than the "all this" or "all that" nerd vs. jock narrative from the movies. I'm a chess fanatic and there are more average to athletic players than geeky ones at all levels. I've known very few all nerd types with no athletic or social skills. My senior year in HS, we won the state Scholar's Bowl championship with one nerdy kid, 4 jocks, and a popular hot girl. The nerdy kid was the weak link and both captains were jocks. In the real world, hardly anyone is all greaser, all soc, all nerd, or all jock.

Watched the Bikeriders last night. It was a letdown. Great cast, most of which were underutilized. Austin Butler is the least convincing bad ass I can remember. I don't feel like there was much character progression. Jodie Comer's accent was very annoying. It's kinda boring too. I didn't expect SOA but something more than what did, or rather didn't happen.
