Watched Ad Astra and Joker over the weekend.

Joker was great. Loved the rawness. I'm assuming it'll be nominated for best actor and picture.

Ad Astra was a disappointment. Well made, good acting, but was too heavy on "message", and the message was meh....

Finally got around to watching IT chapter 2. Definitely not as good as the first one (the new first one) but not bad. Was almost too funny at times. Bill Hader definitely stole the show. Movie felt too long as well. Was almost as long as Endgame. There's probably 30 minutes that could have been cut. Still enjoyed the movie just not as much as the first.

I thought the Irishman was great. Yeah Pacino as Hoffa isn't the best casting but he played the part pretty well. Pesci playing kinda against type was great.

The last part of the movie really made it for me.

I liked Pesci too. Pacino and DeNiro to me felt like the same characters they've played 10 times before. Good show regardless. Way too long though.

I thought the difference for me with DeNiro is that he was much less brash. The closest I've seen him to this was in Casino and even there he was more fiery.

For Pacino I thought he was less bombastic. Not on par with Michael Corleone, but as good of anything I've seen from him in 20 years.

Have you ever seen A Bronx Tale. One of my favorite De Niro roles, and a top 20 movie for me of all time. Chazz P was awesome in that movie too (IIRC Chazz wrote it, and De Niro directed it). I was surprised CP wasn't in the Irishman. I know he's currently in the Godfather of Harlem (which is awesome) series, so perhaps not available. If you have not seen GFoH, definitely worth it. Awesome cast and story.

It's really hard for me watching Pacino and De Niro play any mob type shows. I'm a mega fan of most of their work 60-90s works, and so much just seems rinse/repeat these days trying to cash in.

Yep, way too long. I'm about halfway through and stopped. Hope to finish in the next day or two.

Watched Dumbo, mistake.

I watched it in halves too. They should have either limited it to 2.5 hours, or made it into a series.

Parasite was amazing. One of the best films of the year. Bong Joon-ho is one of the best directors working today.

It really is a flick you should see blind. I knew almost nothing and what a wild ride it is.

Is it funny? Violent? Gory? I know nothing about the film.

Watched the first half of Dr Sleep before the start of the IU game.
Much better than I thought it would be. The previews did a crap job IMO.

Rebecca Ferguson is smokin'. I remember her from Wallander and The White Queen. Going to predict she gets a lot more work. I see she's already tagged for the new Dune along with a lot of other good actors.

She is so attractive. She starred in the last two Mission Impossible movies, too.

I watched "Happy Death Day" last night on HBO. Figured it was a movie my s.o. would enjoy but it was surprisingly entertaining for me too. Basically a murder mystery Groundhog Day.

Watched Kill the Irishman (2011) this weekend. It's about Danny Green and the mob and rackets in Cleveland during the 70's. Not bad.

Anyone see the Richard Jewell movie yet? My GF wants to check it out while we're on holiday break.

It is funny and violent in spots. Wouldn't call it gory. It's a suspenseful thriller.

It's about a cheap family of scammers and con artists that try and infiltrate and steal from a wealthy family they come into contact with. Eventually it all goes south of course.

One of the best twists in recent memory. Great pacing, acting, cinematography. The build up to the final act is so tense and nerve wrecking. It's also all set up so perfectly, and you jus love living in the world with the characters.

It's probably my favorite film of the year, easily top 3 with Once Upon a Time and The Irishman.

Jessica Rothe is so charismatic. She carries both of those movies. She's also crazy cute.

I liked it a lot. Paul Walter Hauser was the absolute perfect casting. He nailed the semi autistic but super sympathetic character that was the real Richard Jewell. It was nice seeing Olivia Wilde in such a different role than she usually plays.

Jennifer Connelly is still so yummy.

Still haven't see Kilmer in the trailers IIRC.

I completely agree. I watched it this afternoon and loved it. It went darker than I expected, but great story with several twists and a great acting job from the entire cast.

I'm starting it tonight and should finish it tomorrow.

The Bear
It's on Amazon.
It's a movie made in 1988 about a bear cub that loses his mother.
It reminded me of when my Grandmother, God Bless her soul, took me and my brother to the theater to watch this. All I remember Is my grandmother was very upset at the end. She was very religious, (never had a drink or a cuss word in her life) and she was very unhappy my mom suggested we go.
It Is somewhat revolting for the time. I don't know if I'd take my kids to see it.
Bears having sex, dogs being killed, hunters killing bears, horses..
I remember loving it and wondering why she was upset......

We went to Richard Jewel yesterday. I thought it was pretty good. Makes you feel bad for the poor guy. I didn’t realize he saved so many lives.
