Old School and Step Brothers are different types of comedy, but I'm still surprised that you didn't at least get some enjoyment out of Step Brothers if you like Old School.

One sucked and the other was Old School??? ;)

Honestly, Step Brothers just wasn't funny...

My mom is babysitting this weekend and the drive-in theater has a double feature going. Guardians at 8:30, Pirates at 10:40. Should be home by 2:00. HYPE!

Is your mom also going to spend the night and take care of your daughter in the morning? Because my kids are up with the sun, and there's no movie I'd be willing to slog through an entire day on 4 hours of sleep to see.

But I'm a tad bit envious that you and your wife share similar tastes in movies. So good on you.

The drive-in theater is near my parents' house, not mine, and Grandpa wakes up before my daughter does. Also, the theater used to show porn like 50 years ago and the sign still looks like a penis.

$27 per carload for a double feature of first-run movies. That's less than $7 a ticket even if it's only two people.

I watched "Macgruber" last night. It's entertaining, and did have a few laugh-out loud scenes. Fat Val Kilmer is great as the villain. But it definitely tries too hard in some spots and isn't something I'd watch again.

Thought Guardians Vol. 2 dragged a bit in the middle but the humor was excellent and the ending was surprisingly emotional. I'm Mary Poppins y'all! We're in intermission waiting for Pirates to start.

"Jason Bourne." It was a cool movie, tense and involving. However, it was a completely unnecessary sequel. I won't spoil the story, but it's getting old how the Bourne franchise keeps relying on "But wait, there's more!" when it comes to Bourne's murky past with the CIA. It's the same formula over and over.
1. Bourne is off the grid then something happens that forces him to pop up.
2. Shaky cam mayhem ensues.
3. Bourne finds out that the reason he was forced to come out of the shadows is something that relates back to his CIA days and has a deep emotional resonance for him.
4. More mayhem.
5. Ambiguous and open-ended finale
6. Cue Moby music over end credits.

Yeah, him having to surface again to clear up a huge Columbia House CD of the month bill that was still ongoing was a bit much to take believability wise.

Yeah, seemed like the same movie with the same story. Well done though.

Those Columbia House collectors were no joke. They make a CIA hit team look like a bunch of choir boys.

"Hacksaw Ridge." Pretty darn good. An incredible story. Stand out performances. Mel Gibson does a good job of showing the brutality of combat without being gratuitous. I do think that parts of the movie were a little melodramatic and clichéd, especially when the orchestral music swelled up over slow-mo battle scenes. Overall, though, a very good movie and a story worth telling.

Pirates 5 was pretty terrible. It felt like Johnny Depp was phoning it in and I didn't care in the slightest about the new characters.

I saw a clip/preview that was extended dialogue from Depp, and afterwards I turned to my wife and said, "It's like he forgot how to talk like Jack Sparrow. I don't know if we should see it."

YES! That's exactly what I thought. We re-watched the series in the week leading up to this one, including watching On Stranger Tides on the car DVD player before the movie started at the drive-in, and it was like his voice wasn't even right.

Literally don't have a thing to do at work this afternoon.

Just got done watching Mortal Kombat on Netflix.

Such a good bad movie.

I would spend entirely too much money if that were offered near me. So many movies I'd love to watch on the big screen.

Yup. But I gotta have money for beer, so that'll keep me from going to every single one of them
