It's be great to be #1, but I'm damn happy to be #2. Sizable lead over 3-5, too.

Who says Indiana isn't a football state? 3 of the top 50 are from Indiana...only other states to say that are California and Texas.

I think the only other states with 3 "BCS" college programs are Florida (Miami, FSU, Florida, UCF) and North Carolina (UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest).

Plus Florida is on the "list" of states with 3 teams in the top 50. So only NC is the only eligible state left out and even 2 of their shitty 4 teams make it.

Texas has several teams.

Tennessee has three - Tennessee, Vandy and Memphis

California has four - SCum, UCLA, Stanford and Cal

Pennsylvania has three - PSU, Pitt and Temple

50 most valuable college football programs

Came in #2 behind Texas, not shocked considering the whole Longhorn network. Big question is how do we take over that number 1 spot??

I wouldn't say the Longhorn Network has been the difference maker for them. Many UT fans on Shaggy Bevo lament that they can't even get Longhorn Network still, unless things have changed very recently. I think the general perception is that the network is still young and has growing pains. On the other hand, Texas has been the most valuable college football program for awhile, before the Longhorn Network even came to be. The fact that it's a state school, and little Notre Dame as a private school came in at #2 speaks volumes how the University has handled itself on a global scale. That said, I don't see us passing Texas for some time. Too much money down there, lots of great prospects in their backyard, and you're contending with a huge public school.

UT has the largest alumni base in the country correct? I have been told that many times... I am sure there are quite a few Oil Barons in there... money makes money.

I think Ohio St. has the largest alumni base

I believe that's correct, at least that's what I've seen. It goes something like Ohio State, Ped State, Texas, Michigan, then Florida.

When you consider 4 of those 5 also rank in the Top 5 of Most Valuable CFB Program, it makes sense given the $ factor. Ped State is the only one that doesn't follow the rule as it's #14, but given this is a recent list that might be a result of the sanctions.
