Probably just making room for incoming freshman! It was probably Saban's credit card that he let em use and than claimed stolen and he probably planted the gun too!

Ok, see this is what pisses me off. Te'o was a complete victim and was treated just horribly by other fan bases and the media. So at Alabama where this kind of **** happens all the time, they will probably be kicked off the team and nobody will care. Thieves and weopons charges great job kiddos, moms will be so proud. Asshats

I understand being ticked about the Te'o coverage, but this isn't something that happens all the time at Bama. Since the summer of '08 when Saban cleaned out the riff-raff from the previous staff's players, these would be our first serious incidents, and it's getting plenty of coverage locally and nationally.

Looks like they used a stolen credit/debit card to commit theft and were in possession of an unlicensed gun when doing so. One of these guys (Calloway) was busted in '11 for misdemeanor possession. He's a goner for sure. Depending on the circumstances, the other three probably are also. I hate to see anybody be this stupid and waste the opportunity they had, but they made their choice. Now they'll suffer the consequences.

These are the first incidents? What were these?

Calloway arrested for weed.

Rolando hitting people with their car.

Jeremy Elder pulling a gun on a student and robbing them.

Jimmy Johns selling cocaine in the athletic parking lot.

Aaron Douglas arrested for DUI.

Mark Barron arrested for lying to police.

Alabama assistant coach arrested for pot.

Simeon Castille arrested on disorderly conduct.

Brandon Deaderick arrested for criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and giving the police a false name.

Brandon Fanney - disorderly conduct.

Roy Upchurch - diorderly conduct.

Courtney Upshaw arrested for domestic violence.

Nico Johnson arrested in high school for verbal harassment. (Dee Liner)

Or by "first incidents" were you referring to felony specific crimes?

Well to heck with you! Would you stop? You're messing up my rep! lol

Seriously, I hate to see kids from any program be this stupid... and eventually every program has a few do something really dumb like this. We've had a few good years with no major behavior issues, but all good things come to an end. They've likely just thrown away a free education and a shot at the NFL, not to mention possible time in jail. Unless one of them was truly just in the wrong place at the wrong time and didn't know what the others were doing (unlikely), they'll all be sent packing.

You actually have a pretty solid view on this. It's refreshing but I disagree with you on this. See Wooly's list of offenses and maybe you will see what I've been seeing. True, lots of schools have these issues with their athletes but it seems Bama and Florida have "stole" the show. I expect to see this at OSU since Meyer went there. His tenure at Florida was pretty bad.

I was referring to serious incidents - felonies... and since the summer of '08 after Saban cleaned house, as I said.

Johns & Elder were very serious felonies from that summer of '08, but since then, all the rest have been minor misdemeanors and some you list were incidents that happened before that player was even part of our program. Yelling at someone, getting into a shoving match outside a bar at 1am, or jumping the fence at the town pool for a midnight swim when you're in HS are not what I'd consider serious crimes.

Brandon Deaderick arrested for criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and giving the police a false name. - 2007

Like, I understand the hate I really do, but half of these points don't even make sense in a discussion about players getting in trouble under Saban's watch since 2008 as the poster you're quoting quite plainly said

On sports raido down here in Alabama, one of the hosts this morning said that this will help with Alabama's oversigning/gray-shirt problem. To be fair, the other host told him he had crossed a line.

Of course, the line he really crossed was saying it out loud!

Btw, the cocaine arrest was a felony.

Which one's exactly? Because they all happened under Saban's watch and the one you pointed out clearly has "(Dee Liner)" next to for a reason. Google it if you aren't familiar with it.

I've already Googled it. And yet again, that happened at high school. I wasn't aware that our Dark Lord Saban had extended his reach to be able to control kids before they even get within a mile of campus. And Dee Liner was an Auburn commit at that time if you really want to make that shoddy argument

I'll beg to differ. Saban's run a very tight ship and these are the first felony arrests of any of our players in more than 4 years. I'd like to see no incidents of any kind, but when you have 85 players in that age range and they're already a bit full of themselves as college football players tend to be, it happens. I doubt any program in the country hasn't had a few minor incidents over the past 5 years.

I'm definitely not defending these guys who just got busted. I hope Saban's already cut them loose and made an example of them. As for Wooly's list, a few of those incidents were before those kids were even on our campus, and the rest are pretty minor things. Liner got arrested in HS for being in the city pool late at night. Upshaw shoved a girl who slapped him for talking to another girl. The coach busted on possession said he'd never smoked in his life and hair analysis showed he certainly hadn't smoked anytime in the past several months, so charges were dropped. The rest is just minor stuff like scuffling outside a bar, getting into a loud argument late at night, etc.

No. But he has the power to choose what type of individuals he wants to bring to Alabama. And obviously, when the kid has already displayed this type of behavior in high school, it is a reasonable assumption that it could happen again.

You obviously are missing the point entirely. How can you clean house when you recruit kids that display consistently bad behavior?

I'm trying to remain as objective as possible. We obviously have had a few incidents with Floyd, Tommy, etc. Although I believe it was a turning point for them, and they will both move on (and have) successfully in their lives.

What's with the Bama fans getting defensive? These "student athletes" beat some dude senseless to use his credit card at a vending machine. It's disgusting, pathetic, indefensible and only serves to reinforce the perception that the term "student athlete" is a complete joke at their institution. The fact that it was more than one player points to an institutional problem not some isolated incident.

Yeah Saban welcomed a teenager that got in a verbal altercation with a cop and trespassed in a pool, a year later. Kids don't change and these offenses are along the lines of putting other people in danger or distributing drugs. Your point?

Literally not a single person in this topic is defending these 4. I'm discussing (read: not defending with the exception of Dee Liner) other instances addressed

That made me laugh.

Wooly, I said John's arrest was a very serious felony. I also said that since the summer of '08 after Saban's first season when he got rid of all the riff-raff, there had been no felony arrests since until this incident this week.

Do you think Dee Liner jumping a fence while he was in HS to go swimming late at night is a serious offense? Why exaggerate what happened with Upshaw or just make up stuff? A girl who liked him got mad at him for talking to another girl at a party and slapped the bejeezus out of him. He instinctively shoved her. Didn't hit her. No injuries. No beating. No need to make up stuff to push an agenda either.

Disorderly conduct is a serious crime in your book? It's kids scuffling and shoving, getting into a loud argument in public, or not being 100% cooperative with the cops when they try to break it up. Castille got hit with disorderly conduct because he threatened to punch somebody who cursed at him from a passing car. Barron let someone who didn't have a license borrow his car and then lied to police to try to keep his friend out of trouble. These are not exactly major crimes. Why do you want to make any of this more than it is?

You can't get mad at a fan for defending his school, but I just think these acts are pretty awful. To be fair Bishop was not condoning any of these acts and was more so saying Saban doesn't tolerate these kinds of things. At least that's how I'm reading his posts.
