Great broadcast from the duo, love the addition of Mike. He did a great job, I also enjoyed the lack of updates through the whole show of other teams and scores allowing to focus on the game at hand.

I thought he did a very good job. I was rather impresse. Definately an upgrade from Hayden.

i thought he did an excellent job. he applied his knowledge of the game quite nicely.

I didn't ever think that Hayden was biased...just uninteresting. He was trying so hard to be unbiased that it was flat and boring. Mayock seemed interested, which made his commentary more interesting.

When the game gets more interesting, he got a bit excited, his voice volume went up, and it may have seemed like he was rooting for someone.

Thought he was great.

But he did keep referring to "Ian Johnson", and "Ethan Williams". And Hammond can just go away; isn't it considered "Broadcasting 101", that you announce the name of the guy who makes the tackle more than once every 10 plays or so?

screwing up the players names is the only knock I can put on him...thought he did a good job otherwise.

the name thing is easy to fix....just use last names and be done with it. or learn their full names

but again, it's his first time too.

On the names thing: give him a break--he's a reasonably recent hire and he's got 85 names to learn and get right instantaneously in real time game flow. I'd like to see many people on this board start say with a big ten team and announce a game in two weeks and make no errors. I taught for several decades--it was a screaming bitch to instantly get everyone's name perfect on the fly. We're all fortunate that some of the posters aren't our bosses: one strike--no matter how trivial--and you're out! No one can survive that.

I thought he was phenomenal. He really adds a football knowledge that most color commentators either don't have or (more often) do not know how to convey it. I'd rather he tell me like it is than ball-wash ND (as long as he's on point), so I was very impressed.

Great point Boss. Only those in positions to have to learn names on the spot would understand that.

Funny moment: At 8:44 of the 3rd quarter, Mayock says "Pass protection to me is all about giving the guy a clean pocket. Notre Dame is starting to destruct that pocket." When I heard that live, I thought "Is that a word?" Mayock quickly followed with "Is that a word? Destruct? How about destroy?"

God I'm loving this dvr thingy.

Sorry but screwing up our starting D line and RB names is pretty ridiculous for someone getting paid to watch ND football. Stick with last names for a few weeks until you get it down. HUGE improvement over Hayden. Now if we could just kick Hammond out of the booth and let Mayock do the whole game I may rejoice.

Emotion during big plays and knowledge of the game to provide deeper insight. Two thumbs up.

Now if the damn camera crew could ever show the whole field instead of zooming in to see the whites of the ball carriers eyes I may graduate NBC football coverage to AVERAGE.

My stitches are fine, don't you worry...oh, the hockey moderator thing...that hasn't applied since the site went ppv. Once I was busted back to freebie slacker status, it took away my ability to change my "title"....so it remains as it once was.
