Didn't he uppercut one of our players? Maybe I'm thinking of Cissoko. Or was he the one that shoved Floyed back down after a catch in 2009 and there was no flag with the official standing right next to them.

That was Jonas Mouton, who rocked Eric Olsen in the chin.

Yes, Cissoko shoved Floyd down literally at the feet of the ref with no penalty call.

But this is a big loss for Michigan if he doesn't return. He's their best wideout.

I've said many times before that I read UM boards for the hilarity.

And no, they haven't shut up about Floyd. In fact, one fan said something to the effect of, "At least it's not his third alcohol-related offense unlike some people coughNDcough" as if two DUIs is more excusable than two MIPs and a DUI.

In the eyes of the court this is worse than Floyd's situation. Take it from someone who learned the hard way, dont get caught driving on a suspended license. The judge will take that 'personally' because you already agreed to a judge that you were not going to drive on the suspended license and the judge will take it as you lying to the court (also, the judge will assume you have no respect for the court and its rulings). Now add that it was a DUI while driving on a suspended license? lying and being irresponsible in the eyes of the court, tends to not get you any breaks. expect the hammer to fall for this kid in the court system.

in my case, there was no DUI. but I did have and an FTA (failure to appear). in 1994, driving on a suspended license, FTA (which then made my offense a misdemeanor), and california restitution fund ended costing me $1191. I remember it vividly to this day.

Apparently, Stonum was ticketed Thursday (yesterday) for driving on a suspended license. What a mess. Hope he gets his act together.

Looks like that will throw a wrench in the Michigan fans' desire to see how the Floyd vs. Stonum punishments are dealt by each school....

I talked to two of my ScUM fan friends yesterday about this and this is what they thought. They each said that they feel Floyd should be suspended for the first game, but if he is doing/saying the right things, then ND has the responsibity of doing whats right for his future. Which is playing.

Stonum on the other hand, has a long history of not only drinking infractions, but other legal snafus. He also has shown a lack of maturity in this situation and is not stepping up and doing the right things to get back on the team. They both felt that Stonum has ran out of chances. Both feel he should be permanently kicked off the team.

I found it interesting that they both saw them as completely seperate circumstances (as they are) and both side with Floyd vs Stonum. Just the opinion of two of their fans, certianly not a poll of their fanbase or anything. Still, thought it was interesting.

WOW...its hard for any of us to be objective about our boys...thats pretty impressive.

Anyway, I agree with a previous poster that the court will see Stonum as worse here due to his status as suspended.

I realize an argument could be made that both were endangering others, but if it were my kid, I'd be more pissed at him if he had passengers in the car...don't know if either did, but thats my high water mark. That would result in the proverbial hug and then a major double kick in the ***, and constant harassment until I got alzheimers and forgot.

...and yea, my kids hate me because when it comes to their behavior, I got a memory like a woman (no offense ladies).

As opposed to not sitting out at all. I agree that Floyd's crime was lesser, but I wouldn't even pick up a stone with the house you live in... much less throw one.

The whole purpose of sitting a player is that their punishment is to miss games. If you are going to sit them for an entire season, and then apply for a redshirt for that season, then you have not sat them at all . I don't have to live in a clean house, to know a pig sty when I see one.

Players want to play, not sit. This makes him stay out of trouble for an entire year before coming back, and actually earning his spot back.

Well first off, I wasn't trying to be a **** so I'd appreciate it if you backed off. M'kay pumpkin? :)

What I meant is that this is the best thing for UM to do. Why have him come in and waste his year of eligibility for only 6 games or whatever? Especially when (let's be honest) Michigan isn't really looking at a BCS bowl here.

Instead look like you're being really tough especially considering what happened at ND with Floyd. You guys are trying to look like the bigger people and more serious institution, and it's working*.

*To a degree. The media will portray it as you guys being better is my guess.
