I love the folks (bless their hearts) that go on and on saying Fox is an arm of the GOP party, and rejoice in the fake independence of the likes of CNN and MSNBC.

MSNBC, NBC News top political editor accused of 'trying to intimidate' reporter on 'behalf of the DNC'
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ms...g-to-intimidate-reporter-on-behalf-of-the-dnc

Buster used to amaze me with complaining about one news source, Fox, was slanted Right, but had no problem with WAPO, NYT, Chicago Trib, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and virtually every other major news outlet in the country being slanted heavily to the Left. I guess that was "different" somehow.

it's always "different".
i poked him on that a lot. both sides are partisan. anyone saying they're not are simply dishonest. you can argue over degrees of partisanship, but i can tell you there's plenty on Fox that don't like Trump. NOBODY on CNN or MSMBC disliked Obama. buster would just say "well what's not to like about Obama"..

GOP vs. The Left in the meme war is like Cortez's Spanish Army going after the Aztecs. Just unfair and borderline criminal.

White people wearing masks assault a minority journalist. Yet, I bet this gets zero traction on national news and no one is held accountable.

Jim Acosta told us it was a dangerous time to be a journalist so I'm sure he'll cover this non-stop for the next few days.

Don't forget AP, USA Today, Reuters, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, the major metropolitan papers besides the Chi Trib, and all the smaller/medium size media sources that are part of either the USA Today Network (Gannett) or AP who republish articles from those two sources.

BTW, the other day I looked at the Fox News home page. Articles' titles include some terms that I am not clear on. On the same day, headlines included the terms "left-leaning", "lefties", "extreme lefts", "uber lefts", "extremists" and "liberal" in addition to Dems, media, etc. One can't help feeling that these are insidious roots from a trunk set to undermine our great American society - all linked in some conspiracy. I did see a "socialists" term on that day, too.

They do have a few two to three page articles with some factual information, too, though to add to the National Enquirer type articles with splashy headlines at the bottom. If someone could help parse out the left sort of terms on the spectrum for me I would appreciate it. Do these subject individuals move around say from "left-leaning" to "uber lefts" to "liberals" or is there a philosophical difference that defines them like "neo-con", traditional conservative, etc?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s campaign was locked out of its own Twitter account Wednesday for sharing a cellphone video documenting some of the threats made against his life by protesters amassed outside his home. The company’s actions – and its subsequent explanation -- is a reminder of the enormous power it has to censor political speech even as it becomes the de facto publishing platform of political candidates and public officials

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/a...f_mcconnell_shows_techs_censorship_power.html

Big tech can censor conservatives and use left leaning algorithms while the media changes headlines at liberal desires.

Remind me how liberals are so oppressed?

This past week Gannett, which owns the USA Today network of newspapers including twenty of the top 100 by circulation as well as a number of small newspapers, and GateHouse Media have announced their merger. The combined company would have more than 260 daily papers in the U.S. along with more than 300 weeklies with a circulation of 8.7 million. After a merger, that circulation total would be 7 million readers more than the second largest newspaper group, McClatchy.

Gannett and GateHouse estimate $275 million to $300 million in cost annual savings following the deal, including more than $115 million from "newspaper operations" and more than $70 million from corporate functions and procurement, according to a company presentation. Touting these savings as beneficial to shareholders has meant in the past that thousands of journalists and other employees are laid off.

GateHouse Media is owned by publicly traded New Media Investment Group, which is managed by investment firm Fortress Investment Group. Fortress, in turn, is owned by Japanese tech giant SoftBank. New Media operates in more than 600 markets in 39 states, New Media is taking out a $1.8 billion loan from private equity firm Apollo Global Management (AGM), one of the world’s largest alternative investment managers.

This year, Apollo Global Management has been in talks with Nexstar Media Group to buy their organization for over $1 billion. AGM also acquired Cox Media Group 14 television stations and set up newly-formed Terrier Media to oontrol them. Terrier will also concurrently acquire Northwest Broadcasting, giving the company 25 television stations. Cox announced that its 60 radio stations, as well as national advertising businesses CoxReps and Gamut, would also be acquired by the new company.

On June 10, 2019, AGM announced that it would acquire Shutterfly for $2.7 billion, as well as its competitor Snapfish in a separate transaction valued at around $300 million. Apollo plans to merge both companies into a single entity, with Snapfish parent company District Photo as a minority stakeholder.

However, a potential opponent to the Gannett-GateHouse merger is MNG Enterprises, controlled by hedge fund Alden Global Capital. MNG, which recently failed in a hostile takeover attempt of Gannett, acquired a 9.4% stake (5.7 million shares) in publicly-traded New Media on Thursday and signaled plans to potentially oppose the merger or propose alternatives, according to a public filing Friday.

The color in these media mergers is not blue or red, but green and the bias is for shareholder profit. Shareholders of millions of shares and owners are global assest management groups, hedge funds, investment groups, and a Japanese tech giant.

CNN's Don Lemon accused of assault in sexually charged encounter at New York bar

CNN primetime host Don Lemon was accused of a bizarre, sexually charged assault of a bartender in New York's tony Hamptons last year in a civil suit filed earlier this week.

Dustin Hice, of Florida, stated in the lawsuit that he was living in the Hamptons and working at The Old Stove Pub in Sagaponack during the summer of 2018. On July 15, after closing, Hice claimed he left with the owner and co-workers to party at another bar, Murf's Backstreet Tavern, in Sag Harbor, where they saw Lemon. Recognizing the newsman, Hice offered to buy him a vodka drink called a "lemon drop," according to the suit. Lemon declined the offer, Hice claimed, but later approached him inside the establishment.

"[Lemon] put his hand down the front of his own shorts, and vigorously rubbed his genitalia, removed his hand and shoved his index and middle fingers into Plaintiff's mustache and under Plaintiff's nose," according to the lawsuit, filed Aug. 11 in Suffolk County Court, and first reported by Mediaite.

Heard a little about that on the radio. It was reported they thought Fredo was his real name not knowing it was really Cuomo. Cuomo just trying to get some media publicity.

I thought it was pretty laughable that he called it the "equivalent of n-word" for Italians, which it obviously isn't. But I respect him for standing up for himself, because the harassment of public figures you disagree with has to stop. It is reaching dangerous levels in this country with people trying to provoke a response and film it.

Btw, the Italian slur that is the closest to the n-word is "guinea." WASPs used that (especially towards "darker" Italians) to say they weren't really white people and had n*gger blood in them.

Fredo is just a quasi-ethnic Godfather reference saying you're a loser and everyone knows that.

I hate the harassment crap, and would have been fine if he would have decked the guy lol. I'm just not OK with the race card played in what should have simply been a guys being guys moment.

And I'm familiar with all the words. My early years were spent around mostly Italian family and friends. I knew enough Italian as a child to understand when grandma was mad.... and you don't F with grandma unless you can duck a wooden spoon or shoe, or outrun the broom.

Yeah, when I used to visit the Ohio State boards they used to refer to Ohio U or Cincinnati as "Fredo" like they were the Godfather and the smaller schools were beneath them, the scum on their shoes. They're not nearly as cool as Al Pacino though. A better analogy would be Step Brothers...with tOSU being Will Ferrell after he somewhat cleans up his life a bit, and the other schools are John C Reilly before he gets it together.

Fredo = Boston College.

This isn't hard.

Cuomo's full of shinola and just whining. Everyone knows what Fredo means. We've been referring to Auburn as Fredo for decades, just as you guys see BC as your Fredo.

Old School grandmas (born 1880-1920) were the best. They rarely yelled at you, but when they got angry, you knew it. lol

I'm amused anytime anyone tries to claim "<insert word> is <specific ethnic group>'s version of the N word."

Particularly with white groups, that's just being dumb.

There are some crude terms for Asians and Latin Americans but you'd have a hard time convincing me any are in the same area code, much less zip code, as dropping the N word.

Correct. The n-word stands alone, because it is rooted in race based slavery and dehumanizing a whole group of people. No other pejorative comes close.

During a few of my grade school years, both my parents had to work very early so I'd spend the early AM there prior to the school bus. When it was time for the kids to get up, they only got one alert. If they didn't get up, grandma grabbed the broom and went room to room. And one of my aunts was f'ing deadly with a shoe. You could be two rooms away and weren't safe. I was always pretty good, but I saw my cousins get it pretty regularly. Gosh I miss that food. Mom and I still make Cucidati (Italian Fig/Date cookies) every Christmas. Still takes me back...
