Without knowing his history or ties to the program, whoever's working those kids at Michigan recently sure is doing a good job as much as we don't want to admit it.

So within minutes of the announcement, ND fans immediately related it to a "hazing incident". Then hours later, MF gets blamed for losing assistant coaches that left for a) Bama, and the NFL b) Colts.
Balis was a great solid S&C coach, no doubt. But there are plenty more out there like him. Maybe even already on staff. Let it play out. Good on him that he stayed on until the last day of summer conditioning. The plan is in place for the season already.

We have some of the worst fans....

Okay this explains it. He was so embarrassed at being wrong about Ausberry's squat form that he had to resign.

That, or he's still embarrassed at the way he butchered the English language in that video of him introducing Marcus Freeman as ND's coach.

"So, what I'm going to do now....okay, 'cause....your brand new head football coach!"

Balis is a beauty.

Finding a good strength guy isn’t as hard as other spots. Not worried unless it’sa bigger issue of his departure.

Agree, i just don't like that we might be accepting again like we did for OC when we should have been much more prepared and go get someone great.

This was Marcus Freeman related.

ND wasn’t expecting this to happen.

Personal issues did play a role, but it’s not the driving factor.

No hazing or any of that crap.

You are just gonna throw this out there without any explanation?

It’s nothing bad.

Freeman wanted to go in a different direction, but wanted Balis to be the one to do it, but Balis wasn’t comfortable with it.
Freeman didn’t expect Balis to resign.

I'm pretty ignorant with S&C, so what does it mean for S&C to go in a different direction?

More modern, sports science based training.
Where are you getting this from? From everything that has been said about Balis he was on the cutting edge of sports science and technology. Thats part of the reason the guys under him kept getting hired at pretty big gigs.

That’s not accurate.
Balis has straight up said he is not comfortable with all the new, trendy methods.

Let this be a warning to anyone who feels like they know more about squats than me. I’ve got powers your tiny mind can’t even fathom.

A lot less emphasis on raw strength and speed, more emphasis on flexibility, compassion, and sustainability.

In watching Quarterbacks on Netflix, and also watching Baker Mayfield work out in person, I can see how this is the emphasis. Maybe it's just a QB thing, but its not just heavy weights all day every day (though I assume Balis didn't do this either). How does one build muscle in a manner to prevent injury from the awkward positions guys are put in during tackles. Interesting stuff for sure.

My best suggestion is to not be a pussy, train hard and hope for the best.
