The silver lining in college football is that if you are this bad at football you can poach other players from other teams. You can offset with globs if money. What once was seen as a 3-4 year rebuild can now take 1 offseason of transfers.

Sadly Notre Dame is unwilling to participate or unwilling to compete with the tops dogs with NIL and they rarely take transfers. ND just lost to Marshall. Bad QB play, bad OL, bad WRs. The OL is the most likely to rebuild best for next year. The QB room isn’t changing, the WRs might change a little. If Notre Dame as a whole is serious about football (they aren’t) they should have found an experienced HC, found a QB transfer, filled the WR room and plugged others holes no matter the cost, because they should be able to afford it. They refuse…

Rebuild is not a thing anymore. If you are 5* recruit you don’t have want to wait to get good in 2-3 years. You want to win now, you want NIL money. Losers don’t hump the prom Queen and losers don’t get as much NIL. Play the game off the field to play the game better on the field.

There is no reason USC, Bama, Georgia, Florida Schools, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State of the world to be bad anymore. We have free agency every year with a cap-less salary cap. ND can but won’t.

We can blame Rees and Freeman but the ND administration needs to change their “values” and play the game in the offseason to win on the field.

I'll wait for the film eaters to chime in, but it feels like this was a much worse game from the offense in almost every respect than the previous one. Esp. regarding game planning/play calling. Doesn't seem encouraging that this is what we get with a regular week's worth of planning as opposed to a whole offseason.
The scary part of all of it... It Is a fact and well known, that the biggest improvement in any team Is Week 1 to Week 2. We are garbage.

I said before the game this one made me nervous and that it was a MASSIVE game for the program,… talk about backing yourself in a corner,… they just about must win every game to Clemson impressively to regain the momentum that was ritualistically killed on live tv today. I doubt they can.

Who does Marshall lose to next week??

I haven’t re-watched the game (and probably won’t b/c I’m not a masochist) but it seemed there were tons of plays to be had down the middle both long, short & mid-range. Buchner either misfired or the WR couldn’t come down with the ball.

And how many times did our WR/TE literally slip and fall down after the catch? How the hell does that happen on field turf?
If they just play average, they score 30+. Badly coached.

We are all vines and no taters. Much like with Charlie the whole is less than the sum of the parts. We were beaten in all phases of the game. Not sure where we go from here

It was a bad loss but I'm not ready to pass judgement on the season yet. Freeman looks a little overwhelmed. Rees didn't call a good game. Both lines were inferior to the opponent. But growing pains are expected in situations like this. Let's see how they respond.

We are an embarrassment in all of college football. This is a loss that should have never happen.

1. ND needs a new offensive coordinator where are the screens, slant routes? Is the play calling hindered because of the QB play?
2. ND needs to bring in the best QB transfer next year and pay up. We can’t expect Carr to come next year and Save the day.
3. We need to recruit speed and play
Makers we have that in the class coming in but we need to hope for a miracle and hold on.

Rumor circulating on Twitter is that ND made a wager w/ Marshall that if the Irish lost, they’d have to wear green next week. Any truth to that?

My dream is we stop with the pomp and circumstance. Just a total blackout, like we’re a dead in the water program that realizes just how stranded on an island we’ve put ourselves on. We had no edge in that stadium. Fans were booing. I never want to hear about the days of old again. Blank all that tradition bullshit and create something entirely new. We need something new. Going to the games now is like going to a seminar that’s really a pyramid scheme. At the game today, I couldn’t help looking at the Marshall section and how fired up they were and how hungry their players were. That was real envy I had. I miss those days. We slap a champion sign to play like one, but Freeman needs to cover that shit up when we play like entitled zombies. It’s just sad.
Notre Dame fans being entitled and players being stiffs? Say it ain't so

-Very poorly coached team, top to bottom. Three turnovers and no offensive identity. Playing guys like Correll who are very bad even to casual viewers.
-They approached this game with no urgency, and that lack of killer instinct is how you get upset.
-Tommy Rees should probably be fired, but they will give him the full season.
-The defense is mostly fine with the exception of the DL which is shockingly bad. Did not expect that.
-They need to consider moving on to Angeli is Buchner is out for an extended period of time because we all know Pyne isn’t the answer.
-I feel bad for Michael Mayer
This is the risk you take when you hire a new HC with ZERO track record.
I said it back in December that Freemen was a bad hire. Unfortunately, he’s going to be here a while

The players wanted this coach the players have now shit the bed 3 straight games for this coach.

The coaches have their players they want to play and nothing and nobody is going to change it.

Hiestands OL is obviously not cutting it.

Defense is playing their hearts out until they get worn down from the offense not being able to do anything.

Tommy has maybe 2 or 3 good drives a game called otherwise his play calling is head scratching at best.

Buchner is not it and unless we swap to a triple option I don't think he's ever going to be it

I’m not saying we can’t remedy the course. I’m saying we need to stop pretending like respect is owed to us. We are not feared at all.
What? How could you possible remedy the course? Season is over. A wrap. Done.

Just hedging my bets in sports satisfaction since clearly ND won't be cutting the mustard for at least a while...

Haha. Yep I did that in 2010 because my sports club (Parramatta Eels) sucks. I picked the team I thought was going to be certain to bring me championships - the Yankees. They have been garbage ever since.

The last two years every team we've faced has: stacked the box, blitzed the edges, and crashed the line of scrimmage on every play. Daring us to beat them throwing the ball.
HOW HAS THERE NOT BEEN AN ADJUSTMENT????

You all were ragging on Kelly after LSU lost. I told you guys ND doesn’t need any more bad karma. Say what you want to about Kelly, but I miss him right now.
No way, now more than ever I'm not happy with Kelly. He probably saw the writing on the wall with the holes we had on offense. He knew this could shape up to be another 2016 type of season. He took off and left us holding the bag when he's the one that did the crime. We're in this position having to rely on a bunch of 19 year old Sophomores on offense because of recruiting issues that are on him.
