It was a bad loss but I'm not ready to pass judgement on the season yet. Freeman looks a little overwhelmed. Rees didn't call a good game. Both lines were inferior to the opponent. But growing pains are expected in situations like this. Let's see how they respond.

Yeah...this is clearly a rebuilding year for the program, but I wouldn't write Freeman (or Rees) off just yet.

Buchner clearly is not "it". Doesn't have the arm strength or accuracy to throw deep, he's a decent runner but not big enough to take a season's worth of hits, and cbs have realized that they can go wild jumping routes with very little risk of being punished given the combination of bad arm strength and bad receivers.

I don’t. He built this team and it’s terrible. He did the same crap last year against Toledo except their player forgot to take a knee.

If Freeman isn’t the answer, fine. But I’ve cone to realize since Kelly left that he definitely wasn’t going to get us over the hump.

The offense is absolutely the root cause of this teams problems. In college football you can’t expect your defense to pitch a shut out in every game and in every situation. I don’t think the d line got “dominated”. They certainly haven’t played up to their preseason hype.

I mean, a lot of this is Kelly's fault dude.

Rees had a horrible performance calling the game. Who hired him?
The OL got manhandled, particularly the interior OL. That was poor recruiting by Jeff Quinn (and Hiestand in '18). Who hired him?
The receiver group is all around non-existent. That was poor recruiting by Del. Who hired him?

Kelly's mismanagement of the roster is a big reason why we have horrible OL play and zero receiver depth or talent. Two major reasons why the offense is an unholy dumpster fire. He also decided Rees was the guy to run the offense after Long was let go.
