My honest first reaction is: Freeman cannot be coach this time next year,… undisciplined football and losing games you shouldn’t has been the calling card of this team three years running now. Maybe that lessens and it’s just heat of the moment but this is really jarring.

Side: the inability on ND football to get a fucking quarterback in this era is literally the most unbelievable aspect of all of this. How dafaq is it SO HARD to find anyone who can just play above average at that position!?!?

I’m not sure how you can say this. I appreciate your calm sincerely, but this experience is a broken record. Some things you can’t fix. He’s not ready for this.

I get it. I just wanted it to work so bad, not just for our reasons. Seemed the right guy to root for, but so was Gerry Faust.

That guy has won everywhere he’s been in college. He turned around Baylor in a year and he’s got Nebraska headed in the right direction.

He’s 6-7 after one year with a program that was a complete dumpster fire. Fickell would be a good hire as well.

Really sorry to say, but in my time watching cfb the phrase "you are who you are" almost always applies to head coaches in their 3rd year on the job. Freeman seems like a good dude, and the staff he's assembled makes a lot of sense on paper, but he is what he is. And what he currently "is" is a mediocre HC.

So let’s get a list started.

I like what Cignetti is doing at IU so far.
Surely Denbrock nor Golden would be in the mix.
Who else?

If you want to have a hard time selling a school with less than 5% black enrollment to a black high school football player and his family, by all means, fire the second black coach in school history after 3 years like you did the first one. Doing it m after giving Kelly multiple opportunities to fix his shortcomings for 12 years and still shitting the bed when it came down to it definitely won't be used against you. You can rationalize it all you want, those will be the facts. Good luck getting past that negative recruiting message.

The point of recruiting is about winning games. It doesn't matter how well you recruit if you don't win. This is perhaps the worst loss in ND history, in year 3. We can't worry about a negative recruiting message like that.

That has nothing to do with it. They will be black coaches on the staff. Potential NFL guys don’t want to lose to a trash team eitherz

We can win with offensive linemen, tight ends, quarterbacks, and linebackers.

Notre Dame isn't going to out-SEC the SEC schools.

This isn't 2009. Kids want to get paid, go to the NFL, and win (3rd most important thing). No one gives a crap what the color of the coach is who was fired (especially if he's losing to MAC teams).
