A few things I’ve enjoyed so far about Freeman’s first year.
1. Showing up for big games. Notre Dame will only reach the next level when they win the big games on the schedule. This year it’s Ohio State, Clemson, USC. Through 1 1/2 games I like what I’ve seen. Too many times under Kelly we got blown out. We’re not a great team this year but we’ve come out firing for these games.
2. Physicality. I love the fact that Freeman acknowledged we need to be an OL and DL dominant program. Give me this offense with very good to great QB play and we can beat anyone.
3. Special Teams. Notre Dame handcuffs itself enough that we need to win on the margins as a program. Drove me (and most of you) nuts that we basically surrendered trying to make plays on special teams. We have to be a program that gets positive plays out of special teams. Mason is a gangsta.
A long way to go but so far I’m still bullish on the guy.
