Outside of just Dabo, it’s pretty crazy how much NIL has exposed some of the “powerhouses” down south.

The $50k and a sports car doesn’t do anything anymore. Some of them come off as broke bitches now. I’m very happy with how Notre Dame has approached NIL, and is a top dog in the NIL food chain when they want to be.
That's really what this all boils down to. The SEC had it's run. NIL and The Portal took care of that. I will be curious to see who the next SEC National Champion will be and when it happens. You'd think one of the Texas schools, who are newer members at that.

I bring nothing to the table
In the strange world of the Granger family, my wife believes she sold a random bowl to Joanna Freeman’s mother at the garage sale we are having. She told my wife that she was out walking and wasn’t sure how to get back to the house she was staying at. Said she was visiting from Ohio, gave the street name and pointed in the direction of my besties house. Fingers crossed that my bowl ends up in the background of a Freeman family photo.

I'm generalizing and stereotyping here, but I don't get the sense that the Clemson alumni base has deep pockets.

There are quite a few Clemson fans with very deep pockets, however, they aren't accustomed to having to shell it out. It's one thing to have the money, it's another to donate it. The Whataburger owner is a Clemson guy. It really feels like these schools killing it in NIL have 1 or 2 billionaires leading the charge.

I know a quick google search could answer this...BUT....Outside of Mendoza (who I've talked to multiple times and is a great down to earth guy) who are ND's biggest boosters?

What's insane is the amount of money these guys make, but at this point we can't put shit back into the donkey.

Google Search:

  • Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. ('68): Former owner of the San Francisco 49ers and head of DeBartolo Holdings, with a net worth estimated in the billions.
  • John W. "Jay" Jordan II ('69): Co-founder of the private equity firm The Jordan Company. He is one of the university’s most generous individual benefactors, having donated over $150 million to Notre Dame.
  • Tom Mendoza ('73): Former President of NetApp and a significant donor for whom Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business is named.
  • Brian Moynihan ('81): Chairman and CEO of Bank of America, with an estimated personal net worth upwards of $120 million to $260 million.
  • Joe Ricketts ('62): Founder of TD Ameritrade, who earned his bachelor's degree from the Mendoza College of Business.
  • Kenn Ricci ('78): Aviation entrepreneur and Principal of Directional Aviation Capital, recognized for donating $100 million to the university.

Brian Moynihan went to Notre Dame Law School but is the chairman of the board at Brown (his undergrad). He appears in some ND stuff but isn't exactly a major donor.
Looks like Joe Ricketts went to Creighton. If he did go to Notre Dame (too?) there is strikingly little about it online.
The others, yeah, have donated a lot of money.

I've always felt like Notre Dame has a lot of very-well-off alums but not a lot of gazillionaires, compared to other top schools anyway.
