I thought the "do you want to be an NFL head coach someday?" was a very good question that doesn't lend itself towards coach speak. You're correct that the easy thing / what a Lane Kiffen would do would be just lie and say "no, no interest in the NFL, they're going to have to bury me on campus."There's just no benefit to answering the question any other way imo.
Either he wants to go to NFL one day, and he believes in honesty, so he won't outright lie and say no.
Or he wants to be at Notre Dame long term, but the leverage of perceived NFL interest helps when renegotiating his contract and asking for concessions from admissions on transfers.
Or he genuinely doesn't know.
Saying yes is obviously bad, and outright saying no doesn't have many benefits either imo.
Yeah, him taking the high road is what he does, but I hate it in situations like that. Riley gets to be a clown and Freeman goes "blame me" for it being cancelled lol... at least Brady Quinn got the facts on record.I'm kind of disappointed that Freeman didn't spit facts re: USC.
You just praised Dorka. LOLI thought the "do you want to be an NFL head coach someday?" was a very good question that doesn't lend itself towards coach speak. The truth is that he probably does want to be an NFL coach at some point in the next 20+ years of his career but you can't answer the question that way without causing issues for yourself. So good on whoever the reporter was who asked that question and phrased it how he did.
Oh no what have I doneYou just praised Dorka. LOL
It seems very clear to me that he wants his next chapter to be the NFL but he isn't done with this one yethe was by far most uncomfortable talking about the NFL. Talking about the team he was fine and confident. That definitely made it clear to me he wants to be an NFL head coach w/o question imo.
Out Out damn spot.Oh no what have I done
Lax Revisited Thread!!!Oh no what have I done
I was more impressed by him stating: “there are guys we need to get to Notre Dame”.Favorite part of the presser was him buttering up admissions by name. Freeman knows what he is doing lmao
Micki Kidder!!Favorite part of the presser was him buttering up admissions by name. Freeman knows what he is doing lmao
The portal bedwetting can be forgiven. But praising Horka? Ban worthyLax Revisited Thread!!!
Micki is an IU undergrad, but she has been cleansed by getting her MBA from ND.Micki Kidder!!
"We talk to Micki, Micki talks to the deans."
It absolutely stood out.
Do you have a timestamp?Favorite part of the presser was him buttering up admissions by name. Freeman knows what he is doing lmao
Bring a natty home and I he could leave for just about any job other than Michigan or USC and I would be perfectly ok with it.He's going to leave when he wins a National Championship. Someone else is going to inherit a fortune.
South Bend Tribune, Austin HoughWho was the local reporter he called out regarding situation w/ that wrestling coach?
No joke about NFL jobs opening up “with some regularity” I wouldn’t be surprised if no one in the future ever lasts longer than Tomlin in the same jobMy take is that - MF is young still, and good to great NFL gigs come open with some regularity. He has unfinished business at ND, and ND is investing in him and the program at the level needed to get over the hump. He knows the legacy he'll have if he brings ND a championship, and that the NFL opportunities will still be there when that happens.
This is 10000% conjecture obviously, but I think makes sense. Use the NFL for leverage now, with legitimate interest down the road.
Maybe the SteelersI mean turning down Giants and Steelers is a good sign for sure.. those are premier jobs..
