Just saying that there are some qualities that are present across all sports while pointing out the emotional lability of wrestlers. I saw a coach who's athlete pinned a higher ranked wrestler in an upset and he didn't even celebrate with the kid - he just trash talked the other coach for some reason.

I should also make clear, while never a wrestler myself, I know some amazing people who are/were high level wrestlers and incredibly successful. Also some great dudes who trained hard, worked every day, and busted their ass but were just never good enough or athletic enough. Skill doesn't correlate with personality.

I guess I'm really trying to make the point that the crazy ones are REALLY CRAZY.

The high school I went too had wrestlers in the top rankings for the state every year and none of the coaches were ever like this.

Unfortunately, this is just wrestling. I have seen parents taunting 11,12,13 year olds when the give up a home run. Like really.

I get celebrating, especially if it’s your kids first home run. But these bats anymore make it much easier to hit home runs when most of us played.

A 5' 5" 133 lber is not not fucking up Freeman, who will have at minimum a basic understanding of wrestling being from Ohio.

I thought that was his wrestling weight 20 years ago? He’s probably walking around at 170+ with cardio for days.

If this guy has almost been fired before, I can def see him doubling down on filing suit as he probably knows this incident is going to permanently tarnish his name and likely cost him his job.

Then he probably shouldn't have been trash-talking a teenager, and especially not one whose family can afford far far better lawyers than he can.

FWIW, I've seen fights break out between players at basketball games more time than I can count. I have never seen a fight break out between wrestlers at any of the countless tournaments I have been at. The wrestlers my kid has been around are exponentially more humble and likeable kids than basketball, football and baseball. He made so many friends with kid he competed against from other states and cities.

While true, clearly not what went through his head.

FWIW, I don't think anyone is blaming kids. This is about adults. "Baseball dad" doesn't mean the dad was a douche as a kid, or that the kid is an A-Hole. It means a dad is misguided in his desire for his kid to be a star and behaves like a teenager.

Similar here I'd say. The kids probably are mostly great. But parents could have high emotions. I mean, wrestling is an intense sport. And they aren't getting their energy out on the mat.

Maybe it's a southern thing. Seriously.

I'll put it this way then as well, I've seen less parents acting inappropriately than at baseball, basketball and football games. Are they loud? 100%. Do some complain about calls? Absolutely. Do some cross the line? Obviously. But in my experience, not like those other sports. At all the tournaments and duals I've been at the one thing that stands out to me us that wrestling referees DO NOT PLAY. They swiftly take care of argumentative coaches, wrestlers and parents.

I was at only one dual where the parents were AWFUL to the wrestlers and refs. It was the 2nd round of state duals and my son's unranked team beat the #6 team in the state at their place. As each match went by, they grew more and more restless at what was happening. They were taunting kids and yelling things at them. It was the only time my son got an unsportsmanlike penalty after he pinned his opponent and "shushed" the crowd.

On the flipside, my daughters 12U YMCA basketball coach got into a fistfight at the game with the other coach because that coach was taunting 11 year old girls. I've seen parents taunt an injured player at a JV football game and yell to their kids to "take the backup out too!".

Stefanski and Harbaugh are going to get the two best jobs. If LaFleur gets canned, he'll get the 3rd best job. The Giants job will be filled, the Ravens job will be filled. Does Freeman want the Raiders, Dolphins, Browns or Titans job??

Raiders would be the most attractive location, but still would be a no from me

Waking up every morning as an ND and worrying about the idea that Marcus might leave is a misery I absolutely want no part of. What will be will be, and at this point, I expect him to be around for a bit.

Seems like out of all the college coaches he's at the center of the rumors overwhelmingly. I think it is an incredible gamble hiring someone into the NFL who has absolutely zero experience in the NFL. It is a testament to what Marcus has accomplished to this point if these teams really do want to talk to him, but the success rate of college guys going to the NFL with no NFL coaching experience and having success is very minimal.

Calling this guy a clown would be an insult to clowns

More info on this nothing burger:

Looking forward to all of the update articles/headlines clarifying the error and clearing Freeman's name of "battery charges." The only other clown show bigger than that wrestling coach, is the media jerkoffs who jumped on the story for clicks, citing little to no facts whatsoever.
