This past weekend, my wife & I went to Denver just to get away from kids, work, and household chores for a couple of days. It was a great trip as we got to sleep late, eat at a couple of Denver's best restaurants, and my wife went to Victoria's Secret before the trip.
The best part was that we got to check a major item off our bucket list - something we've been talking and dreaming about since we first met. On Saturday afternoon, we jumped from a perfectly good airplane 12,500 feet above the ground. It was even more fun than expected. Totally awesome experience!
An especially cool thing (and why I'm posting all this) is who we got to jump with. We had to wait for about 2 hours for our turn to go up and jump. In the waiting area was an elderly man also making his first jump ever. He was a former Navy pilot, but said he'd never skydived before and at 82 he figured it was now or never. I chatted with the guy off and on for 2 hours and he was really witty, sharp, spry, and just a charming, interesting guy. I had no idea who he was, but at least 25 or 30 students & instructors approached him saying they'd seen him on television and asked to take a pic with him. They treated the guy like a star and he was having a blast taking pics with everyone.
After we got home from Denver, I looked him up online. Holy Cow! Watch the videos below. Trust me, it's worth the time!

Here's the video of him jumping. In the interview near the beginning, I'm not in it but I'm sitting just a few feet to his right watching him. My wife & I are so glad we got to meet this guy and go skydiving with him.
