Hearing a lot of brian kelly to florida. thoughts?
Bye....Hearing a lot of brian kelly to florida. thoughts?
I love BK and want him as our coach.
That said, if the rumors of him leaving get out of control and he doesn't step up and squash them this time around, I'll change my mind about wanting him here.

Hearing a lot of SABAN TO TEXAS. thoughts?
Unless there's just a personality clash between Kelly and Jenkins.ND to UF would be a horizontal move, which rarely happens in CFB. And it's unlikely that UF would pay BK much more than he's making now.

I don't put much stock in it. Most of the "buzz" here seems to be driven by talking heads who share Kelly's agent (seriously though... f*ck Trace Armstrong).

What's Kelly's angle? He's under contract through 2017 so why would ND have any incentive to give him more money?I don't put much stock in it. Most of the "buzz" here seems to be driven by talking heads who share Kelly's agent (seriously though... f*ck Trace Armstrong).

I just quickly perused the gator forums. Kelly is not being talked about much at all.
I think Whiskey is right on.
No one of any repute close to the actual situation has even floated his name. Just dumb people being dumb for clicks and stuff.
Also, the AD does not leak anything. So on the surface you should just reject everything you hear because someone is just throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.
Oh, I agree.
It's always amazing to me how these coaching searches generate all this buzz around certain names.
It's actually fun to watch and then the guy that gets hired was never even mentioned.
The John Gruden to Tennessee buzz was awesome.
Gruden-to-(InsertTeam) keeps me going through the early offseason.
I will never understand why his name is mentioned for every CFB head coaching job that comes open.
Its not true, until it is. The Miles to UM was a done deal until Herbstreit opened his mouth. Any information coming out would have to be a fly on the wall in the back alley channels. This is how coaches can say, without lying, that they haven't spoken to anyone. Thats because the bagmen of agents are passing notes back and forth like kids using their little brothers or sisters to pass "Do you like me?" notes to their crushes.
Have you ever seen those guys who pose as agents or owners or GMs or whatever and prank call people during coaching searches? Like "Hi, is this Lane Kiffin? I'm from a search firm hired by Notre Dame, and we're wondering if you'd be interested in a coaching position..."
I believe at one point they conned Tony Dungy or somebody to the point where "sources" then said contact had been made between parties and stuff... Silly Season is ridiculous. It's an extremely high stakes game of chicken + musical chairs where no party can afford be left holding the bag at the end and hiring a Brady Hoke.
Coaching searches have always taken on lives of their own, never more so than in today's rapid-fire information age. You cannot always believe everything you read or hear as the lines between facts and fiction are constantly blurred.
USC's football head coaching vacancy is the latest example of this.
USC has been alerted that individuals posing as USC representatives made overtures to two coaches regarding the Trojans' head coaching position.
In one instance, a person falsely identifying himself as a high-ranking member of the USC athletic department attempted to make contact several times with the Denver Broncos' coaching staff to discuss the Trojan job. That person has been identified by USC and appropriate action is being taken.
In another, someone claiming to represent USC reached out to a contact of former NFL head coach and current NBC broadcaster Tony Dungy, who said on today's Dan Patrick Show that he had no interest in the Trojan job. That person, again not a representative of USC, also has been identified and USC is in the process of contacting that individual.
"Tony's discussion on the radio today of being contacted by USC was a complete surprise to us," USC Athletic Director Pat Haden said. "So were the calls made to the Broncos. I can assure you no authorized representative of USC or our athletic department made these calls.
"As I said last week, we will not comment on every name that comes out. It would be a disservice to our players and coaches, who are devoting everything they have into the remainder of our season. We have a head coach right now in Ed Orgeron. We have not offered the job to anyone."

Is it really a horizontal move? I could see some desiring UF more because of the recruiting pool, less people to answer to, less rules to abide by, more control, and more money. Just to name a few.

Only a fool would want to coach a team with the ugliest color combination for uniforms in college football.
Agreed. You'd have to be a fool to leave Notre Dame to coach Wyoming.
How is this thread still a thing?..
